Do you think that state, cities and towns need to address illegal immigration?
Do you agree with the state of Arizona?
Answer:
Absolutely Agree.
OBVIOUSLY, the federal government is not going to enforce the law and it is ridiculous for States and Municipalities to look the other way.Name one federal law that does not get enforced at a local level except for immigration laws.
This perversion started with Plyler vs. Doe whereby the Supreme Beings way overreached their authority and twisted, bent, and perverted the 14th amendment to say that we MUST provide an education to those here illegally and we CAN'T report them to the proper authorities.
The "Doe" was adopted to protect the identities of the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs were here in defiance of our immigration laws and subject to deportation if apprehended by INS. This is without a doubt one of the most perverse decisions ever made and was cited years later as the basis for striking down California's prop 187.
The Supreme beings harbored fugitives from justice, aided and abetted them in their illegal endeavors and then forbade school officials from cooperating with the federal government.
It is time that every State and munincipality gets tough on illegal immigrants and pave the way for a Government that can't seem to figure out how to enforce a law without first granting amnesty to everyone that broke it.
Yes! If the federal government won't do act on this issue, many states are more than happy to.
Yes.
It is a very complicated issue. Seeing those who have profited from illegal labor being held accountable is refreshing.
Yes, if federally we are not enforcing the laws then I think states need to take it upon themselves to do what they can within the laws.
I agree 100 %. It is time to redeem our country and stop the foreigners from coming in unless they follow our laws. America is a government of laws and not of men.
In my border city, after the 1986 amnesty, our BP did sweeps of all businesses checking for legal status of their employees...MANY businesses were fined and many illegals left because they lost their jobs. This is a good idea and an inexpensive way to deport illegals.Problem is, many cities depend on this cheap labor. And refuse to address this issue...
Yes, if the nuts in Washington will not, then yes, cities, and states must.
Absolutely agree. Ironic, since Sen. John Kyl is from Arizona, and was one of the proponents of the recently failed pro-amnesty "reform" bill.
If the Feds won't protect the borders from invasion, then the states must.
I completely agree with what they are doing! So far, the federal government won't uphold the laws already in place, so why not the state?!?! the only problem with letting the states dictate how these laws are enforced is that there will be no consistency. I live in California, and I am sure that my state government will basically say "screw federal law" as normal, and allow the invasion of illegal immigrants to continue . . . .
When the federal government fails in its primary function (Defense) it falls to the State, local, and the militia to defend the USA.
I agree with Arizona. Look at it this way, you have a garden and offer some food to some one and then they come every day and take more and more. Are you the bad guy when you kick them out for good?
don't know, there is so much to it, i don't think the local government has the manpower and finances to do all that.
The answer to the question of illegal immigration needs to be economically sound. Someone needs to fill the jobs.
First choice would be anyone on welfare that can work and is not. Sorry, but if Mexicans can be migrant workers then so can you. The money we save on Welfare dollars can be used to subsidize the schools where the migrant workers go so that their kids are taught and are not a burden on the local school systems. An alternative plan would be to have federal teachers travel with the migrant workers and haul their classroom/trailer. Extra money could also be used to help the farmer’s build better housing for their migrant workers.
Next, put the prisoners to work. They need to be generating revenue to pay for the cost of their incarceration and to reimburse their victims.
All of the revenue generated in these programs could also be used to beef up border security. There would be less need for illigal immigration so less jobs would equal less people coming over the border.
Some of the money saved or generated could also be used to fund a comprehensive screening process for immigrents who want to come over legally.
Maybe states and towns should stop sending money to DC, there is no point in sending our tax money to these idiots to distribute to everyone in the world except American citizens.
I think cities, states and towns need to address illegal employment. If they would have been addressing employers acting illegally for the last 20 years, we wouldn't have an illegal immigrant problem.
However, I do not think we should criminalize the illegals here. Many of them were duped into thinking their employers would do work sponsors for them once they worked a certain amount of time. They'll go down to Mexico and scam a group into coming over the border with promises of legalization. Then, they're essentially black mailed. They can't report it to anyone without being felons! If we granted illegals the right to go back to Mexico without any kind of charges for just ratting out the lying thieves, maybe a cash reward and offered some a chance at citizenship, we could actually beat this problem.
As it is now, we'll never beat it. The illegal immigrants won't risk ruining their lives and the lives of their children to rat out the crook that's making them work for $2 an hour.
Yes I do. I think the state should be able to fine each company that hires the illegals. Maybe $25,000 per illegal. That would be enough of a hit that they would think twice about hiring a person that came into our country illegally. I am all for them going through the process. but do it by the rules.
Well Coming to America Illegally is a crime. The Law is the Law. Those who commit crimes should be punished. It sounds cruel and all but Its true those who come here illegally need to face the fact that unless you come here to the U.S legally no one would have a problem. No Matter where you go. Canada, Mexico, or out of this country
The Feds don't do it i guess taking the local approach might be the answer
I completely agree with what Az did. We need to clone the laws they just passed for every state, and elect Law Enforcement Officers like Joe Arpaio to apply them.
Going after businesses would be good, but I don't think they would have the authority to go after the illegals, most of whom would leave if the laws against hiring them were enforced anyway.
I agree 1000%. If the federal government can't agree on a solution to this illegal immigration crisis, then the states, cities or towns need to take their own actions and do whatever it takes to help end illegal immigrant invasion!
Few towns in New England have also done things to help end illegals from taking over their towns!!
Yes, it needs to be tackled on local, state, and federal levels.
Only that way can we hope to solve the problem.
Until the federal government gets it's head out of it's posterior, the states & local governments will have to take the initiative.
Yes- State and local authorities typically enforce other federal laws, why not immigration?
They are in the field and can see what is happening. I believe it is their obligation to enforce the law.
Absolutely. It was about time Az. actually started doing something and it's time for the other states to follow suit.
Yes, and definitely the rest of the 49 states of this country should do the same i mean we all say we want to stop illegal immigration and that's one right step to do it!
