i do think its just a distraction to quiet down all the antis but amnesty bill is getting closer. how can 200-300 deported illegals compare to 12 -20 million already here & more coming in on a daily basis. Problem is the numbers coming in & being deported dont match at all, so it just looks nice on ur local news when ICE does raids.
Possibly, but I don't think they have thought the amnesty thing through. If they grant amnesty and the illegals suddenly become legal, they will be able to demand the same pay and benefits as a citizen. So the big companies who are saving money by hiring them will no longer save money. They will have to fire them and hire illegals that they can pay dirt wages to. This is why amnesty will not work.
You are right that they are a ploy. They catch a few hundred people in the raids but meanwhile thousands of us crossing the border. They are playing with you guys.
I don't think the raids are a shame. I think there should be more of them. The leftists are too afraid of the pro-illegal alien criminal crowd to do more raids.
Congress are a bunch of wussies - they wouldn't dare sneak an amnesty bill in. Many ran on a secure border position. The reason they wouldn't pass something is that they know their voters would be pissed and they might loose their jobs.

I honestly believe that these raids are mostly just a sham. If we were truly interested in solving the problem we'd secure the border and seriously penalize the employers who hire them.
The raids are timed for political purposes. Look at the Swift & Company raids. According to reports, the case was started in February 2006, but not executed until December 2006.
The delays were purely political. It was done just before Christmas (so people would feel sorry for the illegal aliens) and just after the elections (so the voters would not be negatively influenced).
The majority of the public is against amnesty, but the majority of big business is for it. What side do you think the career politicans will go with?

Don't know if he reads them or just his aides tho. I cannot believe they would give amnesty to these folks, or start a guest worker program. What is the purpose? Heck, release our American prisoners and put them on a "guest worker" program. It would relieve overcrowding in our prisons, make more room for illegals, and help our fellow Americans even though they are criminals, but at least they are legal citizens and Americans. Why should we help illegal people who are not citizens of our country to prosper? They know how to come here legally, they alone choose to break the laws.
