Did anyone hear about the Toys R Us thing where the first baby born in 2007 would win $25,000. The first child was born to illegals and they told them they could not have the prize as they had to be legal citizens. The illegals then got lawyers to back them and Toys R Us ended up paying 3 couples in the end.
The misinterpretation of the 14th amendment is a out rage to all thinking Americans.That law had nothing to do with anchor babies.It was to protect and guarantee the citizenship of the newly freed slaves.Not as a loop hole for illegal aliens to get a foot hold in this nation.Its way past time to end this free ride.

DJ, that would take some tinkering with the 14th amendment. And we will find a cure for cancer, AIDS, and even ignorance before tinkering with the amendments will be allowed. What we need to do is create a very tight border patrol that would not allow these women to slip across for the sole purpose of delivering an American baby. Amending the law is often an admirable idea, but it often creates another loophole somewhere.

The law concerning what is known as anchor babies is a very vague one and its possible it could be challenged and a supreme court ruling made to clarify the law.
If that doesnt happen then it would take an amendment.
No article in the Constitution nor any amendment EVER granted citizenship by birth to aliens. The Extreme Court misinterpreted the 14th amendment in their common practice to empower the court by interpreting laws any way they choose.
In the 39th congress (according to verbatim record: The Congressional Globe) every last person who mentioned the topic of the first clause insisted that children born to aliens would NOT be citizens.
Did you know that if Germany's ambassador to the U.S., while living here, has a child, that child is not granted citizenship? Why would we DENY citizenship to heads of state and respected representatives of friendly governments and then GRANT it to LAW-BREAKERS?
Yet because of this anti-American misinterpretation, we will now be required to amend the constitution AGAIN.
Again, I have to defend the immigrants because people just don't understnad problem behind immigration at all. Most of illegal immigrants are here for economic reasons. They come here for the jobs that Americans does not want to do, which insures our goods to stay cheap. Unless everyone is willingly to double their living expenses, catching illegal immigrants will not solve the problem. As long as there are enough incentives for illegal immigrants to come to the states, they will keep on coming, no matter the cost.
As for keeping immigrant children status stay illegal, that is the WORST idea of any ideas toward solving illegal immigrants. We DO NOT want illegal immigrants turn into criminals that we can not trace on paper. Having their childrens as US citizens is the only path for most illegal immigrants to become legal citizens of United States.
Illegal immigrants also do pay taxes with their fake SSNs, but they do not receive services because their SSNs are fake. To really stop the flow of illegal immigrants is eliminating cheap jobs like apple-picking, cleaning duties, and restaurant laborers, etc. while improving the economies of the source emigrating countires. Immigrants would not have left their countries if their lives were easy back home.
For those whoe actually bothers to read this, please think about treating the source of immigration, and not the symptons of it. Otherwise, it will never be solved. Worse yet, if the immigrants decide to stop coming to America, US economy will surely collapse because of its dependence on them.

Why was German Ambassor's child granted US citizen even though the child was born geographically in US? Becasue per international law, the German ambassy is the land of Germans, which is essentially part of Germany. You don't grant a child born in Germany citizenship because his dad is on friendly terms with Americans, do you?

Third: The Government knows all of this and welcomes these illegals, because without them, they would have to import workers from Africa or Asia (and we know you don't want that, but wont admit it). So, by all means, please set a date and say hello to your 38 year old Walmart Manager son twenty years after that date for me.
