Qusetions for a Mexican immigrant?
We are supposed to have a list of questions for him as this is going to be an open forum.
While I do have a list of questions, I was wanting some additional input as I don't want to overlook anything.
Thanks so much :)
Answer:
Are you going to ask if he is legally here?
Are you going to ask what his opinion is about illegal immigration?
I'd be interested in the answers, but I understand the questions might be difficult in the classroom setting.
Ask him what his thoughts on illegal immigration are.
Ask how he got past the border guards!
what is the economy like in your home country
Ask him why Mexicans throw there toilet paper on the floor instead of flushing
Ask him why he thinks the American public is so focused on the topic of immigrants and are blind to the fact that corporations (and the federal govt) are taking advantage of this issue to lowball the wages of skilled and unskilled blue collar workers.
Ask him if those who came here legally, are mad at those who want to get to the front of the line, by being here illegally and waiting for amnesty.
Why did your family left your country and do you want to go back?? Do you know that is a crime to come to the USA, illegally.??
Ask him what Mexico -- a resource- and labor-rich -- country needs to do to fix itself so that 10% of their population doesn't feel the need to flee at all costs to themselves..
Why and when did you come?
Are you an American citizen? Do you plan to become one? Why or why not?
What are some of the most important differences between the US and Mexico?
What do you miss about Mexico? Do you return to visit?
What would you change about the US to make it more like Mexico? What would you change about Mexico to make it more like the US?
What would you change about the US?
What would you not change, or enhance, about the US?
What does the illegal immigrant debate mean to you?
Assuming you're here legally: Welcome!
Hello, welcome to our class. We appreciate your help with our Spanish. I have a few questions, if I may pose them to you.
Did you go through the U.S. Department of Immigrations in order to work in our area?
How long have you been in the United States?
What type work do you do?
What suggestions do you have to help us learn to speak Spanish?
Are there merchants that we could visit and practice our Spanish ... where do you shop for items if learning English?
TRANSLATION FROM ENGLISH TO MECHANICAL SPANISH:

Utilizando la fuente abajo, usted puede diseñar sus propias preguntas...
I suggest that you share the websource (below) with your guest...it could be helpful to those who have language barriers in business and commerce...some people understand what is spoken if they may learn how to pose it...
1. What is your perspective on potential changes to US immigration policy that have been raised since 9/11? Within the last two years?
2. What is your opinion on how trade agreements have impacted the economy in Mexico and how might this impact immigration?
Why are you here?
What do you want?
Where will you go, if you don't get what you want?
How soon will that be?
Thank you for your visit.
Good bye.
Do you think illegal immigrants should be granted citizenship? Why?
Are you an illegal or legal immigrant? (If he says illegal, call Immigration on him)
Ask him if he can answer why illegal immigrants from Mexico don't go home to Mexico to protest and demand their rights. They obviously love the country because they fly the Mexican flag here in the United States, send their earnings back to Mexico and speak only Spanish. Ask him if Mexicans are taught about the pride one should have and why they should not take free food, medical, education, etc. from others when they are able bodied and must earn their own way in this world.
