Without the debate of moral issues, what are some of the other issues why we regulate immigration?

I can think of a few but will start it with one: The infrastructure of our nation, the roads. We increase the number of cars on our aging highways by 15% yearly with the legal drivers. How much of a percentage more does it go up with the illegal immagrants driving on them?

Answer:
Job availability, skills necessary, whether the infra-structure can handle the growth, age of the population, racial balance, adjustment period from the change, for the immigrant and the citizens.

Just like ANYTHING..too much of anything throws things off balance. Even if it's supposidly good for you. Yes...there's periods of imbalance but this time it's far worse than it's ever been before, over a longer period of time, than ever before in our history. It hasn't followed the normal avenue and it's caused great disruption with no sign of anything getting any better in any aspect.

Language. They say 2nd generation learns English. We have 3rd generation who still don't. That's won't, not can't. That's not been denying anyone the oppertunity, not enough avenues to do it..that's been plain refusing to do it. Causing more division than unity.

Time to get people used to our laws and our way of life. It's give and take on both sides and understanding on both sides. We have people here from so many different cultures but we learn less and less because there's not much communication.

Where I live it has grown massively in 10 years. They've sold off most the farm land and we're scrunched in here like sardines. Built homes.but no better roads.schools get to extreem conditions where we have to build more and more and more so our taxes are high. But they aren't bringing jobs in to pay it. They're leaving (good jobs) quicker than they're comming in. They slapped houses up as fast as they could..unfortunatly the utilities can't handle the strain. Water restrictions, blackouts, pollution of our well water. We're encroaching on wildlife in order to meet the demands of the people and that's causing problems. It effects the quality of life when it's too much too soon. I mean my parents chose this area because it was rural. Quiet, safe, good schools, nice place to raise your kids....not anymore! Takes all day to do basic errands. Schools don't even have enough books for the kids, traffic is a nightmare, jobs are scarce and not well paying. Streets aren't safe. It's hard to feel welcoming when you're whole life is changed and it's not for the better.
Few that statistics can track, after all these people either don't get driver's licenses at all or they use fake Social Security numbers and birth certificate.
The 'strain on the economy' argument is a weird one--you read one report about how many immigrants on welfare are straining the system, and then read another one about how immigrants' social security contributions (that they will never collect back) could save social security.

While some people may be upset at the 'lawbreakers', it's pretty clear what we have to do (since no one is really going to round people up and make them leave). 1--get control of the border, 2--get everyone paying taxes, 3--deport violent (and maybe other) non-citizen criminals. We can't get hung up on what's fair or right--we need to be practical, and that means getting rid of illegal aliens all together--by not letting any in and letting the ones here become legal, lawful contributors to the economy and nation.

Perhaps we should work on the border control and illegal naturalization issues separately--I don't think congress could have done worse than the immigration bill they just rejected, and I wouldn't expect any all-inclusive immigration solution to be too much better. Amnesty may not be right, but I haven't heard a better idea yet. But without controlling the border and future immigration, it would only make things worse.
