I have also become embroiled in this Big Brother fiasco unfortunately. See below - Opinions please??
It is the aforementioned issues that need to be addressed, but Jade Goody and co are simply not the candidates to bring these delicate matters to the fore.
I would like to make it clear that I am most certainly not racist. However, I do feel strongly about the issues that I have mentioned.
Answer:
I think you are right a lot of British people feel we are not just losing our identity, but its being imposed on us by political correctness and we are becoming 2nd class citizens in our own country. This has nothing to do with racism, but more to do with government policy's, and not just the present government, but previous ones too. We British are a proud race, we are proud of our history and what we have achieved (OK some of it we should be ashamed of) but no other country's people are expected to be so obliging and considerate as us Brits, so maybe Jade is just saying what a lot of us feel And for sure she is not the right person to do this, but on the other hand, who else is brave or dumb enough to stand up and say what a lot of us feel ! Lets face it if jade has lost work and money because of what she has said, then no one else is going to be brave enough to stand up and speak out for the brits of this country
I am in the US (insomniac!) and I don't believe we get the show. But I have read a lot about it on the internet.
We in the US also face issues about immigrants who have not "assimilated" - some of it is bigotry, but some of it is concern that our national identity and character - which many Americans believe is chosen, rather than genetic (anyone can become an American, they say) - are being lost.
So while I haven't seen the show, I can agree with you to the extent that just because some people who believe something do so for bigoted reasons does not mean that everyone sharing the concern is a bigot.
What I find most interesting is that the people in the house will not know of the controversy until they leave. "Reality TV" is strange!
A particular politician vehemently denied he was a racist saying "my house boy is Filipino ".The obvious question is,why an ethnic for sub-servience?
well said.you could not have put that better.but di*kheadout there will still say your a racist.either after they read your question.
i have said this a loads of time that British people are scared
to say that this country.has been swamp.because they fear of been called a racist.by a buch of di*kheads.you put the question
much better then i could have.well done
I don't agree with you- I think that the media has a lot to answer for in all of this, through sensationalised press coverage they have spread fear and ignorance across the country- and Jade and co are merely the personification of this.
And like many things, this issue has been blown out of all proportion and people are hysterical about it.
