Dual Citizen to the US / UK. Who knows what I have to do to work and Live in the US?
Answer:
If she is an American citizen already... nothing... get a job and go on living
However she will have to pay US taxes... idk if the UK will stop asking for taxes (I think they stop if you no longer live there)
Note to previous answer: The US does allow it... I am a dual citizen US/Canada (Naturalized Canadian) living in the US and the FBI isnt coming to my house asking me to give up my Canadian passport
In the U.S. there in no such thing as dual citizenship, UK might respect her US citizenship but the U.S. will not accept her having both. In other words when she's in UK if immigration laws of UK permit it she'll be considered UK.
First of all is she really a US citizen? that must be answered first.
if so then she has no problem. If she has a legal immigrant status that changes everything.
The us will not take her passport away, but the US law does not recognize dual citizenship as other countries do. there is a big difference in the terms for example you might have dual citizenship in Canada, but for legal purposes in the U.S. you'll only be considered US citizen. I just finished Law school and immigration law was one of the last course I took.
Thats what is happening, and has been happening for ages in the uk!We take anyone, but the minute you try and get into another country all hell breaks loose(usa in particular)
The sad thing is that their is nothing you can do anyway!as this corrupt, dictating government dont listen and dont care!
The person who says that the U.S. doesn't recognize dual citizenship is WRONG. The U.S. definetely recognizes it, it even says so in passport booklets. If your girlfriend is a citizen, all she has to do is move. That's it. She can get a job easily, as long as she has a U.S. passport and social security number.
