If the new immigrants were disillusioned by America, why didnt more of them return to the Old Country?

Anyone in any other country would rather be here and dirt poor than in any other country in the world, we are not oppressed and you have a chance to rise if you are willing to work, it's a myth that people all hate America aSK the Mexicans why do they risk death to get here? but those that obtain visa's and then disappear they don't want to go back, even our worst situations is better than there best situation where they come from.

They congregated with others from the same countries. They were dirt poor and all the available jobs were controlled by a few powerful men in these neighborhoods. If you had no resources and had to live in certain areas to get employment wouldn't you.

Because they probably spent all their money just to get here I don't think they could have afforded to go all the way home empty handed. So instead they stayed here in an area that they could afford and took what jobs they could.
they was not disillusioned. they knew what they was coming into. if they lived in the slums, it's because they wanted to. only people can turn a neighborhood into what it is.
I'm sure many were shocked to find that our streets weren't paved with gold.......there's only so much running you can do before you have to do the best with the cards you've been delt. There IS NO GUARENTEE OF WEALTH HERE!!!!!! Poor here is better than poor in alot of places.
