How do you prove to INS your marriage is not a scam?
Answer:
What you will need to show that you have a bonafide marriage will vary depending on what process you are going through - whether you are asking about the interview for a visa or Adjusting Status/Removing Conditions stages. If at the interview for a visa stage it will also vary depending on which consulate/Embassy you are going through e.g. I had lots of evidence of a bonafide marriage but the Officer at the Consulate in Sydney, Australia asked me for nothing. Others Embassies/Consulates will require a lot of documentation, most of which has been mentioned in the posts above. If you are at Adjustment of Status/Removing Conditions stage you will need to show an example from an assorted area of evidence, such as bills, car/home ownership, insurance policies, bank accounts, etc etc to show that the marriage wasn't entered into for immigration purposes. Not everyones evidence will come from the same sources. For when the time comes when I will apply to Remove Conditions, I have kept a file with anything that has both of our names attached and will submit a sample from each area. There is also no need to over burden them with documentation. e.g. A couple of bills months apart, not all the bills.
I've just been through this process myself.
The best way to prove it's for real is:
-Photos of you before you were married, the wedding and post marriage. Also, photos of you with your wife/husbands family and vice versa.
-Copies of any bank accounts, insurance policies, mortgages/loans, leases, bills with both of your names on them.
-Testimonies from family and friend members are also a huge help.
-Tickets/passport/memorabelia from when you visited eachother in your native countries.
-EVERYTHING you have documenting your past relationship....take it!!
Take a deep breth and calm down tho! I jsut got through my Adjustment of Status interview where my wife had a HUGE stack of papers and photos and we even took our daughter along as evidence.....the interviewers exact words were:
"I see you came well prepared but unfortunately you won't be needing any of that today"

EDIT - P.S. the answer below mine is a crock of ****, I've barely been married for 2 years. Even then, I only got to my interview now because I applied late. There is no set time limit. I thinkhe/she is getting confused with 3 years after you have Lawful Permanent Residence you may apply for Citizenship.
you have to stay married for at least 3 years. Get to know your spouse for the interviews. Dont worry if it is not a scam there is nothing to get worried over
If it's not a scamm.........
there's nothing 2 prove!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just answer as honost and quickly....... don't take 2 long answering, or answer their question w/ a question...
they HATE that, the most!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We just went thru the process. Nothing to worry when you are not a scam.
Marriage pictures, vacations, joint accounts, buying a home together, having children and getting your neighbors to sign off on a statement that you guys live together day and night.
Document EVERYTHING!!! I know the people below are saying that if your marriage isn't a scam you have nothin go to worry about, but that's not true. You will need to make sure you have copies of any thing that documents your courtship, your wedding and all the time you've spent together. Bills, leases, anything purchased together, everything that documents the fact that you have a legitimate marriage. It wouldn't hurt to consult an attorney on this, they can help guide you through the process.
