Why do people think of Mexicans only when anyone mentions illegal immigrants?

Because they don't know any better. The media manages to twist and spin things and the public just blindly follows. People need to take time out and educate themselves before they make judgments.
Unfortunately most people believe everything the see on television and nothing of reality.
Actually, statistically more than 50% of Hispanic immigrants in the US come from Mexico. the majority of Hispanic immigrants (legal and illegal) come from Mexico and Central America. So, even though not all illegals come from Mexico, the majority does.
Because no other ethnic group has had marches and protests of a pro illegal pro amnesty nature.
Because the majority of illegals actually come from Mexico.
Because the majority of illegals in jails and prisons are from Mexico.
Because the majority of illegals arrested commiting crimes in the USA are from Mexico.

Because Mexicans are the only illegal people on this land. Even those who are "Legal" now, just like you,, first entered US illegally.
