I'm an international student in UK and charged with sexual asault.?
I didnt plead guilty as I didnt attack anyone but had consented sex, she was asking me to get married when I refused she cooked up this case.
My case hasn't started yet, (that is suppose to start in a crown court) any idea how long it may take to get verdict once it started?
I would be very grateful if you could give me your professional advice.

I have already answered on your previous thread. Different cases take different timescales to reach court. Perhaps some words regarding deportation might be of use. If the police serve the appropriate paperwork on you and if you are found guilty then the judge MAY recommend deportation upon you as part of your sentence. The Home Office is not obliged to follow this recommendation but there is a strong chance that it would. If the judge does not recommend deportation for whatever reason then the HO may go for deportation on non-conducive grounds. If you are convicted - rightly or wrongly - I would advise you to use the time available to you to ensure that you have a valid travel document to hand so that you might be removed/deported at the earliest opportunity ( thus reducing the chance of being held on immigration powers at the end of your sentence whilst your removal is organised). If your visa renewal is due before the court hearing then I believe you should raise the charge issue with the HO since it is a material fact and might otherwise leave you open to a charge of attempting to obtain leave to remain by deception.

I hope it does affect your renewal. Consenting sex... yeah right, the crown prosecution services are extremely busy and only take cases on where they think they'll be a result. They have to look at all the evidence, if there was no proof, they'd have dropped the case. If you get sent down, which I hope you do, the maximum is 24 years. i hope you get sent back to your country to serve it. Oh, and another thing, why post a question like that on here? Guilty as Charged, is my opinion
Without passing any other opinions, you will probably be actually in court and have a verdict within 2-3 days unless there are lots of witnesses to call.

I think it will affect the renewal of your visa. Judges are quite harsh on immigrants or foreign people who they think have abused English women, that is my view after studying Applied Criminal Justice for 3 years.
If the CPS has decided to prosecute they must have a strong case, since it is hard to get prosecuted unless there is strong evidence that she was sexaully assaulted and it was not consensual. You could still apply for your work permit, it is another thing altogether if you would get it. It all depends on how you plead, as you said not guilty this will then take longer, you must have already been through the magistrates at a summary hearing, they must have set a date for the trial here, it can be different in every case.
You are best off googling all this and getting better answers from law sites.
Sexual assault is very hard to prove either way to be honest.

this will effect you getting a renewal. you more than likely will not be allowed back in to the uk
The CPS obviously have a strong case against you to be pursuing the allegation the girl has made, so with any luck your visa won't be renewed and you will be deported.
There are enough foreigners in this country that try to play the system so hopefully you can rot away in a grotty cell back in your own country instead of costing our tax payers more money to keep you here.

I imagine that if you are found guilty then yes it would effect your renewal and so it should. Go back home and good riddance, we really have got enough sex offenders of our own without importing them from other countries.
I suppose the bottom line is this:
If you are found not guilty it should not impact your work permit application too much.
If you are found guilty, you have many more things to worry about than a work permit application.
You will get a verdict at the end of the trial. However, the judge may defer sentencing for reports. Whether you would be free until then is another matter.
I hope you have retained a lawyer as you are facing very serious charges
It may have an effect. You would need to discuss this with your solicitor. I wouldn't be too hopeful.
As a previous poster said, your trial could be a few days or a couple of weeks, depending on the amount of evidence being presented.
I'm a little baffled as to why you see getting your work permit is more of a priority than being aquitted and not going to prison.
if the CPS has decided to prosecute you, they must have plenty of evidence,as for the girl asking you to get married, i think you better change your story, it sound so lame..the british legal system is one of the best in the world, british lawyers will tear your story apart, u wont pull the wool over their eyes. if u get found guilty, and you get a custodial sentance and your visa expires whilst you are in jail, you probably wont get a renewal, and deported on your release....thank god..we have enough scum of our own without keeping you here, i think u should be charged for your food and board whilst in jail, why should we pay for your digs?u seemed more concerned with staying in this country than going to jail...
CPS do not take any cases on unless there is a lot of evidence which incriminates you. Also you state it was consented sex - and yet you have been charged with sexual assault and not rape? None of it adds up and makes you sound like just the kind of person who does not deserve the opportunity to study in this country.
The sad thing about your question is that I don't think you are at all worried about the sexual assault charge - you are primarily worried about how this will affect your student visa. Now that is SAD.
I wonder if you are from a country that values women far less than Western cultures? Food for thought.
