AgJobs, First Guest Worker Amnesty Legislation of 110th Congress?
Is this the correct path for the US ?
Last Wednesday, Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Larry Craig (R-ID), Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Mel Martinez (R-FL), Barbara Boxer (D-CA), and George Voinovich (R-OH) introduced the first guest worker amnesty legislation of the 110th Congress. Entitled the Agricultural Job Opportunities, Benefits and Security Act of 2007, or known by most as the "AgJobs" bill, this legislation would allow illegal aliens who have worked in the agriculture sector for a portion of the past three to five years to apply for temporary legal status and then permanent resident status, putting them on a path to citizenship. Families of the 1.5 million illegal aliens receiving guest worker status would also be eligible for legalization (and eventual citizenship) if they are already living in the country.
Answer:
No....it's amnesty. Has anyone living in the areas where ag jobs are ,seen any ads in the paper where they are hiring? Aren't most ag jobs temporary? What would they do on the off season......collect un-employment? Just about everybody has probably worked a portion in the ag business in the past 3 years if they are new immigrants........got to read the full bill to say more. If it's like other ones.....the loopholes would be big enough to drive a semi through.
Agricultural amnesty didn't we already do that? It might be a good idea the USA is the bread basket of the World and we should be able to tax those crop workers.
And what about the othe people who don't work in Agriculture? I think it is the correct path. Then nobody will complain about taxes not being payed, and illegals won't have to live their lives scared of being deported.
Nope. all the newly legal citizens will get fired, the next batch of illegals will get their jobs, and the newly unemployed (former illegals) will now be collecting welfare and other types of governmental assistance.
Nothing will change except we have created a whole new class of deadbeats that can now legally apply for a handout. The unskilled wages they were being paid would not be enough for them to survive here and they have no skills to demand higher wages.
either way this country loses until we get rid of the illegals and keep them out.
