How to get evidence of acceptable imigration status?

yup

Answer:
go to the Inmigration office and ask for the persons name etc...They wil know if a person is in their files that is living in the staes with all legal status to live here...They are the only ones...Inmigration office have records of every legal person if they don't have it so that person is living illegaly in US
Nope!!
You can ask the person to show you proof of his/her status. Employment card, residency card, valid visa or in case the visa is expired a letter stating his/her new status ( I got a letter from college with my new status and time of validity and before that I got a certificate stating the extension of my status). I always had proof of my status to show when requested to do so.
