Bush and Congress went to war but why did they leave our southern border exposed?
It has always been American policy to fight our wars as far away from our borders as possible. President Bush grasped that immediately. But before we could strike back, it was obvious that we had to deal with the immediate local threat.
Because our U.S. commercial aircraft were used as human tactical missiles, our primary focus had to be to secure our airports and air traffic. This was done, quickly and efficiently. All flights were grounded. Airport security was substantially increased. With the consent of Congress, the Department of Homeland Security was established.
All of these efforts, however, focused inward. There was very little done to stem the flood of illegal aliens crossing our southern border.
Three thousand Americans died from a terrorist attack on our country but, while waging war on the enemy, President Bush left our borders wide open to terrorists who could have been quite successful in simply walking over the border with various forms of WMD's to be perpetrated on to the American Advertisement people. Because President Bush did not secure our borders, America was, and is, plain and simply, not safe. Because of President Bush's compassion for the plight of illegal aliens, and his oft-stated but erroneous belief that there are jobs "Americans just won't do," regular U.S. citizens have been forced to band together like the Minutemen of old to form a common-sense border patrol.
Our government has been at the door of granting mass amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, partly due to a plan thrust upon us by Mexican administrators who stand to gain billions from aliens' salaries shifted into the economy of Mexico.
While the Mexican government rakes in the cash, under the amnesty bill recipients would have been given Social Security benefits for their illegal work, which will cost billions in the depletion of money from the Social Security Trust Fund.
In addition, when illegals obtain citizenship, they can qualify for welfare. The additional cost to the American taxpayers would be in the neighborhood of $30 billion. The defeated bill would also have allowed, under certain conditions, for American workers to be fired in order to hire foreign workers.
When did we give up our right to defend our borders against invasion?

it is all part of the North American Union that the leaders of the three countries Mexico, Canada and the USA want to sneak past the people and securing the southern border would be a show of bad faith on our part toward this Union

Bush has another agenda he isn't talking about
Bush balanced the threat levels and allocated resources where they will be most effective. Trying to prevent terrorists from sneaking in through Mexico doesn't make any sense, because terrorists can easily apply for citizenship and get into the country legally (many of them are very well educated). They could also get in on visitor visas or student visas. So stopping the illegal immigration wouldn't affect terrorism very much. It sounds like you are trying to justify your position on immigration by using terrorism as a cover-up.
Because Its what the REAL powers that be want.America is dependant on low cost labor, and have become accustomed to it for profit...Just try to wean middle-class businesses off immigrant labor and watch them fall-apart, and the economy and stock market go into withdrawls...., maybe BIG companies could survive, but not small businesses that depend on cheap labor to stay competitive and profitable
