Anything to get our minds off the immigration reform bill. If warnings don't work maybe a 'real' terrorist attack will? Just something to consider. I can hear Bush now blaming us for petty bickering and not keeping in mind who our 'real' enemies are. The North American Union (and more war, for which we will need an endless supply of troops) will save the day!

Well like always the news does embelish. People in DHS stated like they stated in the Fort Dix plot this plot was really unfeasable and would be very hard if not impossible to actually occur. It is good to see our authorities are doing a good job. Also I will say this immigrants are just like anyother group of people you will have a few bad seed in them. Not all immigrants just like citizens have positive feelings towards our country.
yes they are doing their jobs, but so are the news people. The news companies are in it for a profit, that is what they do..to run their company.
I don't think that they did their jobs is the "news" part. It's news because it's an incident that could have caused a great deal of harm. A vague "there are terrorists and they plot to do things" is unconvincing and rather meaningless. However, evidence of a specific person and specific action is important to report on.

One last thing, if people believe we have a free media, its NOT true, its controlled, just like all other propaganda that comes from Washington..Thank God we have the internet, which our govt. has no control over.But who knows, maybe they will find a way to get rid of it...
I think the newspapers are selling papers. I am sure the information we get has an agenda, but I am still interested in all the news I can get.
What we do to limit our own freedoms is still a decision that needs to be carefully made.

The news infuriates me. Why do they report constantly on pety news like that Natalie chick or that guy who killed his wife and baby last year?? People die every day, in sick crazy ways but because its upper class white people they report on it, but what about the real problems in this country?
Ever since journalism because the "news business," it has lost a lot of credibility with me because they've lost their independence and at the very least the perception of being so.
There's no doubt that there are outstanding journalist who do great work and every now and then we will see that.
However as long as we're bombarded with disproportionate coverage of Paris or the latest missing Caucasian female, it's kind of tough to take them seriously.
This has become a vicious circle: they attack us - we react, so we are the bad seed - they get angrier at us and plan terrorist acts against us - we react, so we are the bad seed - they get even angrier and plan terrorist acts - we react, so we are the bad seed - they get even angrier and plan terrorist acts against us - we react, ...etc.etc...etc.
Soooo, what are we supposed to do?, give up, and let them do whatever they want???

Most of us that have evaluated what is seen as "news" in this country have concluded that it is simply "infotainment" designed to increase ratings of the Corporation producing it.
Things like Anna Nichole Smith's death/problems & the disappearance of Natalie Holloway have long since been talked to death & almost nothing newsworthy exists about them, if it ever did.
Americans love to be scared about what is going on in the World & the media loves to scare them. The truth tends to suffer a lot, but who would let the truth get in the way of a good story?
Chuckle, look at the latest scare on drug resistant TB... this man would have to cough directly into your face while you were inhaling to infect you. NO... you can't get TB from kissing or off a toilet seat. One has to inhale a water droplet coming directly from his lungs to become infected.
So you're telling me that the news media can't tell the difference between legitimate immigrants and terrorists, and then you're asking me if I trust the news media? Sounds like Little Red Riding hood being introduced to the Big Bad Wolf to me! Are you going to ask us to trust Bush next?
