Yeah, the Irish and Chinese of the mid to late 19th century were the social elite. The US has always been a destination for the poor. If you are comfortable where you're at, there is no need to leave in search of a better life.

What makes you think you're better than a Mexican, African, or Asian? What makes them so undesirable and not "respectable" in your eyes just because they are poor? Since when is it not respectable to be poor?
You see, that is what our country is all about. We all came from people from other countries, searching for a better life. And they found it here, and still do. We don't turn people away because they're poor, or consider them not "respectable" due to their financial hardships. We welcome anyone to come here, legally, and live a better life. We're proud of that.

My fellow Americans, We are in the fight for the very existence of a great people, the American people. Americans are of many colors and ethnicity but we all call ourselves Americans, not Mexicans, not Koreans, not Germans, we are Americans nothing else. We have liberal Americans, Conservative Americans, libertarian Americans, Socialists Americans, many beliefs and ideologies but we are Americans all the same. We will not stand by as our nations cities infrastructure is collapsed under the weight of the illegal alien scourge, hospitals are overwhelmed, schools are bursting at the brim, the cost of living is at an all time high, crime is up, are prisons are rioting, killer gangs, drugs, aliens, and disease spread unchecked across our Nation!

Well, you bring up an interesting point. The reason Europeans don't want to immigrate here is because they would be better off living in their own countries. That's because the majority of European countries have a good government and aren't in poverty. However, the poorest of the poor have seen how the U.S. government treats illegal aliens and want the same which causes poor immigrants to come.
Remember that Europeans hat inmigrate to the US where the scum of Europe. The poorest of the poorest sweety.

i respect you mr.cj! im an asian with siblings working in USA and CANADA, we are not the poorest of the poor. In fact we are civilized and educated people>for u ignorant mr.billybob, one of the requirements to get a working visa in USA and CANADA through legal channel is to have at least 72 units in university that is equivalent to 3 yrs. in university education.In my country philippines, im proud to say, most migrating people carried with them their diploma in medical fields like nurses and doctors and teachers.you are true mr. cj, no one should be denied fo her right to get respect only because he is poor. sometimes the poor who eats food out from his own sweat are even more respectful than the rich who feeds his family out from taking advantage to lowly ones.

It is very rude of you to even say this. Who says that Mexicans, Africans, and Asians are all poor? Maybe you should rethink what you are trying to say. Africans, Asians, and Mexicans come here for a better life. It is not those people who are poor, it is their country. They come here for a better life and hopes of making more money and better education and lifestyle for their families. America is "the land of the free" and promises freedom. I believe this should be for anyone. Of course I believe that you should have to take a citizenship test, but I believe everyone should have a chance for a better life.
