Why did germans came to america?
Answer:
To bring beer, the best beer on the planet. Did you know 'Bohemia', a popular Mexican beer, is really a German beer from long ago?
uuuuuuuuuhhhm why don't you know correct grammar?
Same reason about why mexicans come here. They just wanted a better life for their families
As someone descended from Germans who came to America I would have to say that they came over for farmland, in some part, or to fight with the British against us in the Revolution. I had relatives here who came for land both before the Revolution and in the 1860s when the Homestead Act offered land to those who would farm it.
We told each other, but the US government publicized the Homestead Act.
The Germans came for free land that was being offered under the Homestead act. Grew up in the Midwest.
Some came for religious freedom. Germans were part of a crazy quilt of noble families. If your religion wasn't the same as the baron that owned the land, you were in trouble.
Some came for economic opportunities. After all, only the first born son could inherit land.
Some came to get away from wars and constant quarrels of the barons.
to get outta germany
Besides the land offered to them here, the German people were tired of being used to fight in wars that were not fought for their good, or the good of Germany itself. The wars were only to give the land owner more land for the poor man to work.
My great grandfather on my father's father's side came in order to escape having to serve in the army. At the time, Otto von Bismark was trying to force the numerous German principalities to unify by fomenting a series of bogus wars. My great grandfather did not care to serve. My great grandfather on my father's mother's side came for the economic opportunities. I do not know how they found out they could come here, but it was common knowledge in Europe that you could immigrate to America and there were certain ports that were known as gateways for people who wanted to do that.
There was famine and religious persecution in Europe at the time of the first wave of immigration.
In Ireland they had a "Potato Blight". The Irish were literally starving to death. Their land could no longer support the growing population.
Germany to a lesser extent had a famine problem as well. Also again with the religious persecution. That's why the Puritans set up their colonies in what in Now New England.
One dude told germans about america. Then they came to minnesota. Blame "The Dude"..
To make other races taller. Just kidding! Seriously, it was because they heard there was going to be a Mexican invasion and if they didn't get here soon there would be nothing left. Besides, that's where all the hot Irish women were moving. I guess the "biggest" reason was they were the perfect race for the perfect country. come on now! Really , Freedom of religion, and Germany back in the day sucked!
