My brother already lost his construction company because he wouldn't hire illegals nor would he lower his wages for those that worked for him...it was a moral and ethical thing for him...I guess all lost out on that one huh...(he couldn't lower his bids as low as those that are employing illegals)
He did go work for another company that has illegals working for them...the average wage is $15 an hour now (he makes more since he's a supervisor)....
It's all wrong wrong wrong...I guess there is no limit what our government will do for their friends the lobbyist...
And, another thing...if their driving skills are as good as the work they do in construction...(he has told me about the "quality" work they do) better stay off the road...and when accidents start happening who is going to be responsible??
I think that it should be our government for allowing them on the road.

I guess those perks that truckers are getting now are too good for the American worker...should no job in the US pay a good wage and treat their people well?????
I guess we should import workers until we all make $6 an hour...
OH AND ONE MORE THING....
MAYBE if being a trucker DID pay very well with nice benefits (seeing as how they are away from their families so much) MORE people would WANT to do it!!!!

Ya...they'll be here. Different set of pay, different set of rules, different set of safety inspections, different set of everything....Does it make it better? Isn't the object to move forward not a million steps back? My roads aren't better, service isn't better....nothing is safer.....is this something to brag about? I don't think so.
Companies have created jobs at a sluggish rate in the past few years, but there's one occupation for which employers can't hire fast enough: truck driving.
A severe shortage of drivers could hurt the U.S. economy, which relies heavily on trucking. Those in the industry say openings number in the thousands, if not tens of thousands.
The shortage is unlikely to end soon. The government estimates the number of truck drivers will rise 19% from 2002 to 2012, making driving one of the fastest-growing occupations during those 10 years.
Trucking companies are trying to fill jobs by offering drivers cash bonuses and prizes such as boats and vacations to refer fellow drivers who switch to their firms. Base pay is rising, and trucking companies are guaranteeing drivers more time at home. Firms are offering generous 401(k), stock option and health care packages and other perks. Truck stops now have massage therapists and Wi-Fi computer technology.

I work for a trucking company. Two months ago, 15 black [truck-washers] were replaced. [over-night], by what appears to be Mexican illegals.
not only that, but i bet only American tuck drivers will be pulled over for inspections. the Mexican drivers will use the race cad as soon as they are pulled over.
Yea, It started long before you were probably born. President Reagan and his Cronies dismantle Unions and Teamsters. He took away the right to strike and collective bargaining agreement, He first did it with Air-Controllers when they were force to work overtime from 12 to 18hrs days. Reagan fired all Air-Controllers, and replaced with Military. Then he started with Teamsters and International Longshoremen Wareshousemen Union. Since, both were regulated by Federal Standards--FAA & DOT that was his reasoning. Before you had to be Union or Independent to drive a Truck. But, the Independents follow Union Policy the money was good. Now without Unions there are so many middle men that do not anything but collect money, thus less money for Truckers and Wareshouse workers, more for Corporation. Warehouse workers now, have Agencies that collect 30% to 70% of the wages of every hour worked. And Trucking Company spit out Truckers by the dozens more accidents less wages. I blame the Super-Rich, not people wanting to work. Just remember there is a war, Iraqis are the next Amercia's labor-force. Don't Americans don't get it, that why America has wars. For the Super Rich get richer. on Americans taxpayers.
Certainly, truck companies can hire Mexican drivers. The big question will be can they afford the increases in insurance for them. When their bad skills become all to apparent and the insurance companies won't insure them any more, you can also expect the concepts of self limitation for best self defense to take over. If you are not a safe driver, or you can't prove it, then you don't get a job. It will be as simple as that.
What USA Truckers? Now we have these border rats driving
the trucks. Most of them can't read but, since they work for pennies on the dollar they get the job. Then when they are involved in an accident the company denies any and all knowledge that they drive for them. That is just one of the reasons this country's citizens are collecting unemployment.
