Is it at all possible for my Russian friend to visit with me in the USA as a tourist?

I should mention right off that I am a single 39 year old man, while my friend Ana is a 28 year old unhappilly married Russian lady. I believe in my heart that Ana, who I visited in Russia in the autuum of 2005, only stays married out of necessity. Ana doesn't seem to be married for love anymore; just necessity. Ana wouldn't be able to work and raise her daughter alone without her husband's help. I sincerely believe that if Ana could come and see how do I live here in the USA, she might just might finally finalize her divorce and come here with her lovely daughter and marry me for love and not just necessity.
My friend Ana, is a hard working University English teacher, while her husband who was once hurt in a mining accident, no longer desires to work now. Ana's husband has completely recovered from his injuries but doesn't wish to stop collecting his disability payment from the Russian government and return to work. He seems to be a decent father and helps Ana with their daughter.

Answer:
At her age, she will likely only be approved for a tourist visa if she remains married, and leaves her daughter behind in Russia. This would be the US Embassy's "guarantee" that she would return to Russia. I would NOT tell them that she is coming to visit you.. only that she is coming to the US to make a tour.

If she divorces first, her chances of a tourist visa go to almost nil. Russian woman often leave children behind (forever), and being an English teacher at a University is a negative for a tourist visa, because she is emiployable (and highly desireable as a teacher) here.

A fiance visa would be your best bet long term, if she likes it here. However, you can be assured that she will likely not get a visa for her daughter. She must have her (ex) husband's written and notarized permission to take the daughter out of the country. And this is a typical source of income for Russian ex-husbands, when their ex-wife marries a Westerner.

He will likely agree to permission for a fixed period of time, but require a payment of several thousand dollars for this permission. He will limit the time period to force her to return with the daughter, and then "sell" you another permission.

All I can say is that you should make sure you love her enough, and are committed to staying with her through all the fights and hassles, before you ever suggest such a thing.
Yes, no problem for tourism.
I will be getting my wife near there ,why get a fat American one, they are much better good luck I think she will be very happy here.
she could apply for a tourist visa, and then you guys could get married while she was here and apply for citizenship,, but she'd have to be divorced first... i married my ex husband (from russia) while he was on a student visa.... she might as well just finalize her divorce and come here, if she is already divorced then u can apply for a fiancee visa,, its easier than a tourist visa and she has more of a chance of getting approved....
