Is that to much to ask?
Are immigrants buckling down with their English studies to achieve proficiency? Are they demonstrating fondness for the American flag and expressing eagerness to recite the Pledge of Allegiance? Are they showing interest in embracing America's traditions and values? I don't think so.
They seem more interested in keeping their right to vote in their "home" countries. They seem more interested in rooting for their country's sports teams instead of ours. They seem more interested in being buried in their "homeland" than in their "new" homeland. They seem more interested in maintaining their "old" ways instead of embracing U.S. culture and customs. They want all the benefits of citizenship but none of the responsibilities.
Immigrants a hundred years ago were a different breed. They understood that coming to this country very often meant hardship and sacrifice, but they willingly endured the demands because they so wanted freedom and opportunity. My sense is that millions of illegals today don't give one hoot about America. They obviously don't care about our laws; the first thing they do upon entering our country is to break one.
Our elected representatives should take steps immediately to secure our borders. They should pass legislation to revoke instant citizenship for babies of illegals. They should prohibit dual citizenship. They should pass laws that prevent non-citizens from taking advantage of U.S. benefits that were intended for U.S. citizens. And they should enforce the laws already on the books!
Is that too much to ask?
Answer:
No it is not too much to ask!
That is why many Americans have a different opinion of immigrants today, they have wasted away what their family before them had established. It is sad when you really see what they have done to history before them...and they are too ignorant to see it and correct this assumptions and opinions of immigrants today.
They just want our money and jobs
Well, it's certainly too much to read.
Nice "question"
no, it isn't too much.
WE JUST REALLY WORK HERE FOR MONEY TO HELP OUR FAMILIES. I DON'R THINK MANY OF US WANT TO BE HERE. BUT WE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE WE CAN'T LET OUR FAMILY DIE OF STARVATION.WE DON'T STEAL JOBS!!!!!!
PROUD TO BE MEXICAN!!!!!!!
No, it's not. It sounds like a pretty simple fix to me. but I wouldn't hold your breath if I were you.
P.S. Glitterblahblah maybe people like you should work harder to improve Mexico then...? It's not our fault it's such a terrible country that people there have such a hard time trying to live.
Immigration is a horrible thing!
Don't believe it??
Just ask an American Indian!
You really need to compress your questions, its too many questions to answer.Just to answer, your making a lot of assumptions, I am a child of immigrants from Mexico..And with my own personal experience, I can debunk all your arguments, because my parents left there homeland and completely assimilated into this country. They worked hard, never got handouts, dad served in military and yes WE do care about the laws.Sorry to inform you.
You talk and talk but it seems like you very little.
In response to midcentury. One person experience is not a conclusive statement of what an entire group wants.
As for illegal immigrants being a different breed, they are far more similar to the immigrants of the 1800's as most might suspect. The CHinese immigrants had no desire to come and stay in America, but many decide to reurn with their family despite the hard ship and laws preventing them to do so. Italian immigrants are similar too. THe idea was to work in the Americas for a while and return with money to buy a better life. The immigrants in the gold rush wanted to get rich and return home to get a wife. Note that their were few females in California in the mid 1800's. Would you want to stay in a region where there is lack of companionship of the opposite sex. Despite allthis, California bloom to the most populated state. Despite the intent of the illegal immigrants, many well stay despite the hostilities, because its still a better place than home. All the previous immigrants face racism and they still decided America was a good place to live.
As for a difference from the 1800's immigrants oppose to the modern immigrants, I do say several major difference. The immigrants of teh 1800's were controled. TO start with, most require a boat to come here. The current illegal immigrant crises lack a means to control the numbers coming to America. Second is that the immigrant group is lopsided. Its extremely heavy on the Hispanics. 50% of all legal immigrants are Mexicans. add the other latin American countries and illegal immigrants and that would mean a major population shift. The previous immigrants were balanced off by other immigrant groups. I find it worrisome, because it puts a strain on our culture, but most importantly, it would cause a distruption of how small business function in the US. African American small business is failing in Los ANgeles because of the change in demographics. My belief is because 50% of LAs population is hispanic, and it gives an unprecedent advantage to Mexican AMerica small business. Caucasian business survive better, because they tend to be larger and better funded, so they can hire hispanics. African AMerica small business tend to be independent contractors with no employees.
You and your little bb gun just make me laugh.
They don't care about America they just want the money here to send home. How many times do you hear stories of how they came here to work and send the money home to support family in another country?
