Do you still see my mom as a criminal?
Answer:
I really Couldn't put it better than "Thomas G."
You should never be labeled as "criminal" for going somewhere to start a new life, and its certainly not her fault that Mexico may not offer what she needs!!
Since when has it become "Illegal" to dream of a better life, and doing anything to reach that dream??
Dont you think it would just be better to except everyone, as they are?
not everyone has the resoucres they need to obtaine an American citizcen ship, wether they diserve it or not! So shouldnt it be our governments goal to work with other countries governments to make it easier, as to not have this whole "ilegal Immegrants". I thought America was the melting pot! I thought America was proud of its heritage, not for just the countries history, but its residents heritage!
acceptance is something everyone can work on, but its not that hard to make the steps.
And if our government doesnt like people coming here, they should help the places people come from to get here, and make them better, shouldnt it be every government, and every person goal be to make the world better, for everyone, and to help, everyone, and especially those who need it the most.
So no, I would never call your mother a criminal, especially when we have a real criminal (who would call your mom criminal, while denying that he is) as President!
Basically, it time for some change!
P.S., tell your mom congratulations, she really deserves it, and more!!!!!
PEACE ON EARTH!
Yep, you need to go back to your country too. When are you leaving?
Your Mom was never a criminal she was the victim of a poor government in Mexico that could not get its economic act together and a poor government in the United States that has forgotten its immigrant roots
Tell your Mom Congratulations
If she came here and worked her butt off like the rest of us and obeyed our laws. Instead of being on welfare her whole life and living off of us then No she is not a criminal.
Welcome your mom to America for me. She didn't do it properly, but has apparently become legitimate.
...just as an aside...nothing to do with your question...may I kiss you?
no she did her time and is now a U.S. citizen
No, your mother is not a criminal. You are one of millions that have come to America to take advantage of the American way of life. You and your siblings have been born as citizens of this country and now that one of you is an adult, you are able to sponsor your parents for residency. Actually, you didn't need to wait for that. There have been reisdency programs available for people that could prove 17 years of lawful residence inside the U.S. and be able to gain permanent residency. Nevertheless, I am happy for your mother and for your entire family. Welcome to America.
Well as long as she wasn't leeching off the government it's all good with me...congrats.
I see mom as having did a criminal act that would get anyone else in America jail time.
Yes
The question is more "Did you before?" the answer is most likely no to both questions. The only reason it isn't a definite yes is because I have seen to many people (from Canada too) who moved here and ended up living on welfare. I understand bad things happen, but I am referring to people who stay on it as long as possibly with out trying to take care of them self.
Besides, we are all immigrants. What ever happened to "Give me your weak"?
Nope your mom is not a criminal. She paid her dues.
If she robbed a bank 22 years ago and never got caught, is she a criminal?
Apparently not according to the majority logic here.
What this means is hot people can break the law and be forgiven. It's gratifying to know that many of the people replying are "not" guided by looks.
"my mom never worked here or has been on any welfare, but she will get a job as soon as she is resident." <-- Did your father support your family all this time since she did not?
.
Good for you Mom. America, like the Jewish religion, doesn't make the distinction between born that way or converted (so to speak). She should be very proud. My only question is does he support out troops?
Well according to your own comment she did not receive welfare from the American people and did not work, personally if she finally becomes legal I have no problem but living off our system for 22 years was a nice little chunk of change for the taxpayers to doll out for people who do not have the permission of this government to be here in the first place, if your mom did not receive any form of assistance then I praise her for at least not taking advantage of the system. How many others do you think we are footing the bill for?
By the way, congratulations on her late but better than never choice to become nice and legal and I am glad she is getting a job, taxes into the system will help pay some of those who do use assistance.
Congrats to you and your family, and no she is no criminal.
You hung it out there sister.
Well she did break a law, I guess if she got her residency then legally she is ok. Ethically she didnt do the right thing, although now I guess they have rewarded her for it.
This is why so many do it.
Shrug, I guess she was fortunate.
if committing one crime makes you a criminal then telling one lie makes you a liar
say what you want, it's true and you all know it
She doesn't seem to contribute much to society. It's not enough to say she never got welfare, as you say, she also has never had a job. Does she even speak English? I still feel she is a criminal, but does it really matter? She snuck through and is getting her residency.
Something I find interesting is that so many come here for a "better life" and then still wave a Mexican flag, claiming Mexico is the greatest place on Earth, saying "Viva Mexico" etc. If it's so great, why not stay there and try and improve your own country, rather than leech off of another country?
Spazz, does killing one person make you a murderer?
Congratulations to your Mom I am sure she is proud!
I do not think of her as a criminal at all. Many people 22 years ago came here, worked, paid taxes and lead crime free lives.
Things changed as the years passed, too many came here, didn't work, didn't pay taxes and we supported them.
People need to look beyond what is happening right now and the fact that 22 years has passed, and they need to not judge her, or you for that.
You are legal, you were born here, so just ignore all these ignorant people and live your life!
Anyone here illegally should be deported. And they should stop letting children who are born here automatically be citizens.
Yes, I do.
Wouldn't it have just been easier to go to an area within Mexico and get a job? The cost of living there is much lower, but matches the wages of the jobs there. And the unemployment level is only slightly lower than the unemployment level here. Plus, wouldn't it be unfortunate if she was made to pay back all the taxes that she has not paid all these years? That is not meant as a bad remark, but something to think about, as an illegal.
I only would see her as a criminal if she used a fake ID or stole someone else's ID. Plus, if she felt it was the right thing to do for herself, she apparently did not see it as wrong. I don't think there is any use in punishing people for things they did 22 yrs ago.
Well, your mom has brought her 22-year criminal career to an end. Better late than never!
As much as I hate to say this, yes, I do believe that your mom is still a criminal. Face it, she did come here illegally, not legally.
If I as a United States citizen commit a crime now, and manage to not get caught for 22 years, I have still committed a crime. I broke the law, which would make me a criminal. That's just how it is.
We have got to stop looking at the fine lines here, and begin to look at reality.
I'm happy that your mom can go back to visit with her parents. <Smiles>
But being awarded for what.. hiding out all these years.. :( Sorry. I disapprove. Not because I don't have compassion, but because of our laws.. if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. Your mom should not be allowed back, unless someone is now willing to sponsor her, and help her get her citizenship. Please, check into this, just in case she won't be allowed back.
