I'm American. If I want to become a German citizen, will I lose my American citizenship?
Answer:
For getting german citizenship you will have to lay down any other citizenships. If you take up any other citizenships again you will lose your German citizenship.
no becuase you were born here
i don no. y u want to do that? just curious, iwant to go there one day
You might if they make you renounce it. We reluctantly allow dual citizenship, but for some reason I'm remembering that Germany doesn't.

Um, I 'm pretty sure they are wrong about not being able to renounce it. If that is important to you, you should check with immigration.
If you were born an American, you'll aways be an American. But you can get a dual citizenship and avoid a lot of travel hassles by being a citizen of Germany also.
No ,, you will have dual citizenship.
even if you "renounce" your US citizenship, the US government will not recognize it. once a citizen, always a citizen
Dual citizentship.
You will not lose your American citizenship when you become a German citizen unless you INTEND to lose it. Here is the official word on loss of US citizenship and dual nationality:

No, you were born here all you are asking is to be legal in another country, that is all.
