I have overstayed my UK work visa, i am leaving on Monday. What should i expect at the airport?
Answer:
Can you expect to encounter an immigration control? Depends which terminal and what time you are flying at.
If there is a control will you be questioned? Yes
Will your details be taken? Yes – probably. They may not be interested in a 10 day overstay.
Will it affect your ability to return? I would not expect a 10 day overstay to be fatal to your chances of re-entering but NEVER NEVER NEVER try to cover it up because one single lie to the arrivals control or to a visa officer is FATAL.
Will they stop you from leaving the UK – Not unless you assault one of the officers.
Dunno mate but why don't you save yourself the worry and go see the officials..Good luck !
It is customary in Britain to kiss the Customs Officer on both cheeks if you have overstayed, this ensures there will be no hard feelings if you ever want to return.
Expect to see - "aircraft" :-)
I would expect lots of people going places on aeroplanes.
Don't forget to kiss the customs officer on both cheeks.
First thing you will see are lots of plane taking off and landing. Now that you won't be to surprised by what you find. Why are you going? No one else does, they may take a picture of you for the papers, as this is a very rare thing to happen,in Britain Sorry forgot the bit about kissing on both cheeks. We also like to put our hands in each others pockets it means we trust each other.Safe trip missing you already
They will give you a cheque of about £6000 and a box of chocolates, six bottles of whisky, and an apology. It is tough for migrants here in the UK
Well, if you going to your country nothing, It would be good idea if its a straight flight.
If there is unusual enquiry then tell them you didint check and hjust found out now. But they will ask in your country why you overstayed, you just tell them the same thing, its no worries 10 days is nothing.
Lets us know what time your flight is and we will all be there to wave you off.
They won't tell you anything as long as you leave. I mean. I'm not telling you to go but that's how it works. Don't worry, everything will be fine!
If you are from australia I hope you are barred from re entry for 3 years same as the reverse rule for overstays in australia. A visa expiry date is to be observed so get out and don't come back as you obviously do not respect the laws of the country where you have been hosted as a guest. Who needs idiots like you here ?
i really wouldn't bother worrying,i read in the paper the other day,to clear the back log of illegal immigrants in the UK,and deport them,it will take a full 100 years..
guess the passport people will be glad you are leaving and not staying to bleed our country dry...
You should expect around five grand.
you will receive complete disinterest
a couple of hundred pounds and a perminant visa.
it will effect you if you wanna enter the UK again
You may be strip searched, and feel that you are being internally probed by an alien with a cs gas cannister, I hope you like King Charles spaniels/sniffer dogs. Have you thought of wearing a full muslim type black robe with a slit for your eyes to see out of, this will ensure your safe exit and return to our shores salaam alekum
No. They probably won't even notice. Don't worry. if you have overstayed and arre leaving, why would they want to detain you?
The worst that can happen is you will get a stamp in your passport saying "illegal overstayer". That will make it difficult to apply for visa's in the future as you will be seen as a risk. Other than that, nothing.
A big hug for being honest.
They'll check and you might get a comment but I seriously doubt they'll hassle you. You are leaving voluntarily, after all. They will cut you slack because it takes at least 10 days to get your affairs together when you are moving country.
They might check, but 10 days is still not much, u can always argue your case. All tha best.
As long as you are flying directly to your country - no problem. The only problem you may encounter is if you have to return to UK in future - a strict immigration official might make your previous overstaying an issue but again you can always apply for visa in country before you leave - many official would consider an overstaying of 10 days as nothing really, just make sure you have a good reason for your overstaying eg you are recovering from an illness etc.
Have a nice journey and Good luck.
The Nice People at the Airport will Probably shake your Hand , say "Have a Nice Day-- Sir" then Kick your A.rse all the way to the Plane
Have a good trip.
