If one enter UK (London) with South Africa passport with a visiting visa, how can one have a work permit.?
Answer:
Unless your friend is skilled and qualified in a profession where there's a shortage of people to do the job, he has no chance. I know people think you can just present yourself in the U.K and work, accommodation and social security benefits will be freely given, it no longer works like that. As for marrying a British woman in order to become a citizen, not only is it illegal, but very hard to prove that you have a genuine relationship
You can not work, as you have not applied for a work permit, they are both two different things. if you work and get caught you have to pay a £5,000 fine and your boss could get jail and £10,000. marriage is no longer a option cos they have to be together for god knows how long until they decide, but they still would not get one cos they already know what he is up to. so if he is going to get a fake marriage they will watch him
A work permit can only be obtained by filing from one's citizenship state. He has to go back to get one.
Why are there so many people trying to scam and break the international laws to get into this country??? ever likely it's in a mess!
Ours, strangely, is not a free ride society. Your friend has to go back and apply for a permit. If he gets one, then fine. If not, tough.
I'm sure you would like to stay, but we have rules here you know. Well some anyway. GO HOME we have more then enough people to work OR not to work..
You mention a 2 year period - perhaps you have the WORKING HOLDIAY MAKER visa in mind as this is valid for 2 yrs. It is a visa mandatory category - ie you must get a visa to be a WHM and you must get this from a Brisitsh Embassy - it cannot be done in country. Additionally it is only for people aged 17 - 30 so your friend cannot qualify.
Employers are pretty wise to immigration rules and he will be hard pushed to find a high street agency that will offer employment to someone with a visit visa.
A work permit could be applied for (out of the UK) if your friend were to have a job lined up - but he and the employer would have to prove that he is the only man for the job and that no UK or EU national could have performed the same task. Chances are therefore slim of realising this.
In short your friend cannot work lawfully on his current visa, will be unable to switch his category in-country, and will be hard pushed to secure permission to work under a work permit from outside of the UK. Furthermore if he needed to work during his stay then he must have under-funded his trip and - if I were to catch hold of him - he'd be an illegal entrant (verbal deception) in two shakes of a lamb's tail.
Additionally I see you are now being offered the following advice :
"Your friend can apply to the consulate general of his embassy in london."
Your friend can do whatever he likes to the consulate general of his embassy in London - it won't make the SLIGHTEST bit of difference. It's a matter for the UK authorities, not the ZAF authorities - and the answer will be NO.
Your friend needs to go back to SA and apply, like everyone else. If he has the skills that are required then he'll get a work permit. If not then he'll need to stay there.
It's a bit rich asking on a website how to get around what is the law of the land - not exactly endearing himself is he?!
just work illegally or go home
You can't just get a work visa. He has to go back home, find a job in the UK and then his employer has to apply for the visa on his behalf. The visa is only valid for that particular job, if he leaves it he would have to find a new employer to apply for one again.
He has a visitors visa, it's exactly that, you can't work on study on it.
Your friend cannot marry a british citizen inside the UK to get a marriage visa, however, he can marry an EU/EEA national who lives in the UK from inside the UK and get a marriage visa.
If the marriage lasts successfully for 5 years he gets INDEFINITE and this is the ONLY way I can see possibly that he can get his status changed from visitor visa to a resident, otherwise visitor visa can never be changed to another visa from inside the UK.
Hope this helps.
