If we can get a man on the moon, we can deport illegals. Oh and I would not be so sure about what your saying. It is very possible. The government was able to round up most Japaneses Americans in the U.S. during WW2 so we can certainly round up all the illegals and deport them.

Not everyone thinks the way you seem to think they do. I don't want to kick anyone out, and I don't think it's worth the effort to try. I'd like illegals to get status, earn an education, get the jobs they're qualified for and pay taxes on those better jobs to help make society better for everyone.

Don't YOU realize that before we legalize 12 to 20 million who ignored our laws to take services belonging to our people, we want to make sure that we have a handle on the situation going forward? And as one Senator so aptly commented, the enforcement and security provisions of the bill before the Senate are so riddled with caveats and exceptions that it HAS to be deliberate. The so called security provisions also cut in half the fence already signed into law, and fail to demand as a trigger the visa exit tracking system mandated by law, YEARS ago.
Let's just say that far from comforting us that our government intends to enforce our laws going forward, it has convinced most of us that a segment of our political leaders believe their own press about us, that we are uneducated, irrational, and apparently think we are too stupid to see what they are up to.
If you put us border security populists in a room of pro-legalization folks who actually were willing to enforce the law going forward, we could put together a bill. That is not who Kennedy entered the room with, though, because he has no intent of putting in any immigration limits likely to be enforced, and frankly, makes no bones about it. However, that puts you in bed with the slave labor types.
Personally, I would find that repugnant, but I wasn't invited to the bill drafting party.

Criminalizing the knowingly hiring of illegal aliens with mandatory prison sentences for 1st time offenders would make the illegals very easy to find. They would all be homeless.
American business owners and home owners are not going to risk daily @$$ rapes to save a little money on manual labor.
All 12 to 15 million illegals could easily be removed and, never to be replaced, EVER!, using this method.
Soon afterwords, the US government would have to increase the number of legal aliens allowed into this country by several million per year to fill all the new job openings. That's a separate issue, though.
