Permanent Tourist in the US?

I'm a citizen of the Netherlands, and I have no ties to the US as such. I'd like to live in the states, but as a tourist. I don't need to work or get a job of any kind, I have my own money. So what would be the schedule for staying here? Would I be able to stay for three months, leave the country for a bit, then come back for another three months etc? That's what someone told me but I don't know if it's true. Does anyone have any idea?

Answer:
Depending on how much they trust you, you can stay up to six months.
If you have money, get married, then you wont. Good luck either way
you can only stay up to 3 months (90 days) as a tourist. i know this as a fact from relatives from the netherlands who come to visit me every year.

you can come over for up to 90 days, return home, wait a few months and come back again. it gets risky if your visits are too close together.

this would only work a few times within a few years. they start putting your in the interrogation room at the airport if you do it a lot.
stay for 3 months leave and come back again and do this u are just like a tourist u can even be a star.
You have to show them your bank accounts and apply for residence
You can put your tourist visas back to back or even apply to extend your stay, but at some point, you will be denied an extension or entry on the basis of perpetual tourism. USCIS does not (officially) permit such a status. If you are independently wealthy, you might consider an investment-based greencard. You have to create 10 jobs for US workers and invest $1 million or more ($500K in an economically disadvantaged area).

Also note that an essential element of a tourist visa/tourist status is that you do not intend to immigrate (it is a Non-Immigrant Status). If you really do intend to immigrate, you really can't use tourist status, even though you do not intend to work in the US.
