Tom Tancredo may run for President?

He says his party lost the recent midterm elections because it’s abandoned its core principles of limited government, public integrity and fiscal discipline. If that’s true, can that Republican congressman – who’s vehemently opposed to illegal immigration – save his party?. Today, the Colorado Congressman took the first step to go after the White House, forming a presidential exploratory committee online. A spokesman said Tancredo will officially file papers with the Federal Election Commission this week. Tancredo is steadfast in his opposition to illegal immigration and today he said that will be the centerpiece of his campaign. On his Web site, the five-term congressman said the current array of presidential hopefuls don't reflect "the grass-roots, majority belief of Americans" that illegal immigration must be curbed.

It depends. If he is able to raise enough money so that he makes the majority of republican voters aware of his platform, he will win the republican nomination hands down. The media absolutely will not give him one iota of coverage even though he is one of the most important and powerful republicans in the party. That's why he needs money to advertise his position.
If he succeeds in that, then he will easily win the election. Something like 90% of people want what he advocates with regard to immigration, and this crosses party lines. A majority (something like 60%) consider it the most important political issue. If Clinton runs against him, she will be in big trouble. She will be forced to adopt a tough stance on immigration or she will lose and lose badly. However, the ultra far left controls her party and will absolutely not tolerate that stance. Along with her support of the Iraq war, they will go out their way to sabotage her campaign.
The real issue isn't can Tancredo get elected. It's pretty much a given that he can. The issue is if he can make enough people aware of what he stands for, in order to win the nomination. If he can do that, he will simply be too important for the media to ignore.

He'll get my vote. He is an excellent congress man with very few if any skeletons in his bag, and he follows though. By the way I live in California no where even near his state.
it is not enough to make illegal immigration a campaign issue. Tancredo must articulate what his plan for curbing illegal immigration is. If he can do so, many americans, I am sure, even those who are sympathetic to the plight of illegal immigrants, will vote for him.
I hope he doesn't run... I can't vote (yet), and no I'm not illegal.

Yes i will vote for him,and republicans didnt loose ,we gave the elections to democrats to wake up Bush,We know exactly what we are doing.we will let democrats have the limelight just long enough to ruin themselves to the American public,and then we will be back to fight for what we believe in,There will be no Amnesty.Americans "the grass roots" are still alive and well.
I'll vote for him!! He will enforce the laws. I can't think of anyone else who would be better for the citizens of the USA.
