Why must be so difficult for a citizen of EU, with 47 years old, immigrate to Australia?

I'm a Portuguese citizen with University studies, Why does it happen?

Answer:
Doesn't matter if you're EU, if you studied at University or your age. If you are not trained in the areas where Australia need people and have family in Australia then you'll find it very hard. The truth is Australia is popular enough destination for people to live in, in fact, it's popular enough for them to be fussy.
Its hard for anyone to immigrate to australia, regardless if your a member of the EU, the australlians harly let anyone in
47 is considered too close to being unable to work to support yourself ~~
Perhapes if you have a job skill they could use.We thought about Australia too. my husband is an American and also a EU member. He is a highly skilled machinist. I think they would except him. I know that 30 some years ago they really wanted him only because of his skills. Good luck.
