The Japanese car companies built plants here as part of their expansion. I find it hard to believe anyone in Japan lost a job to an American.

Japan has laws that promote hiring Japanese citizens. It's very difficult for Americans to get jobs in Japan. Additionally, if you go to these Japanese plants, many of them hire American Citizens has figureheads but they hire their own to work in the plants. Japan vowed that they didn't need an army to take over the world, that they would do it in other ways. It appears that taking over U.S. markets while sending their profits back to Japan is a fulfillment of that promise. Other countries are doing the same.
