Nowadays, this has a different meaning than when it was originally placed at the feet of the statue of liberty.
Now, instead of the land of opportunity, it is becoming the land of charity. It's not that hard to become a citizen of the US. It's sad that too many people don't want to come here to be part of the US, they come here to take advantage of the US.
US citizens (all races, all backgrounds, all religions) need to unite. We are a giving country. We are giving citizens. However, we are being taken. We need to stop helping those who do not want to help themselves.
I believe we (as a country) are heading for financial disaster if we don't change our course. Laws are on the books. Enforce them. If they are outdated, change them.
It is a shame when law abiding citizens have less rights than criminals and illegal immigrants.
It is a shame when legal citizens are lumped in with illegal immigrants of similar backgrounds. We end up accusing each other, not trusting each other, and casting stones.
There is always an exception to the rule, but we must first FOLLOW the rules before we start evaluating case-by-case scenarios.
Government is too big. Power corrupts many. As long as they can raise taxes, they will have money.
The gap is widening and the middle class is shrinking. We will be expected to live paycheck to paycheck to accomodate the overspenders and abusers of the US.
I welcome anyone that wants to become an American. I have a hard time giving sympathy to those that only want American benefits at our expense.

The kids of illegal aliens are eligible to receive welfare checks for their parents and subsidized housing.

It is morally wrong to turn anyone away for help, plus this country gives chances to anyone from any country. At the same time, resources for the rest of Americans, the resources are in jeopardy and are being battered and abused by many others.
I understand that everyone deserves their fair shot, especially in this country, but as a citizen, you do stop and think about the future stability of this country and resources of this country.
What about your children? What about your federal services you may need in the future?

Hell, when my brother was born, my mother had to be put on an airplane and flown to another city while in labor to deliver her child. So I cannot see why illegals cannot be shipped out of the country when they are in labor.

Common misconception that they are draining the social system. False. Many illegals have fake social security numbers, which means they pay taxes, contribute to Medicare and social security. But being illegals when they reach the age of retirement they won't get anything back. Think about it.
I'd like to see those big pregnant women trying to climb over a fence. Of course if they hurt themselves or their babies it'd somehow be our fault. Cause they deserve so much and don't know any better. Yes the money will be gone soon, and for them as well as us. I wonder if they'll use some type of family planning then, or will they madly birth more on the sidewalks? I guess we'll see.

First they are doing what Mexicans do best, have babies. But then thats what Mexican men think women are for, well that and to beat up. Coming here to have babies has been done for years, they have even come on the day of delivery just to have them here. All of this is why the good ole 14th must be changed.
