Just like Britain gained from other countries, other countries gained from Britain. The fact is that at the moment, some British feel they are doing more then enough for asylum seekers. In my point, however, ordinary asylum seekers should be welcome in Britain, as long as they don't use their asylum, or the money they make in Britain, to engage in terrorist-or other negative-activities, against Britain itself or against any other country.

I don't think most Britain's have a problem with immigrates.
Asylum seekers have the right to safety but surely France, Germany, Italy, etc could offer them safety. Why does an asylum seeker have to travel through half of the world to reach Britain for safety? Is France really that dangerous?
How about the thousands of people who are refused asylum in the UK and refuse to leave. I'm making an assumption that you also fight for these people to stay.
Also why do asylum seekers complain about they living accommodation in the UK once they get given there shelters, they have access to computers, restaurants, shops, given money, etc. If I had run away from something so horrible that I had to leave the country I would just be happy to be safe, not smash the building up because you wouldn't have lived like this at home.
I've also heard the argument from the few asylum worker that do work that they are highly qualified and shouldn't have to do manual labour, then why didn't they apply for a work permit or stay where they were if they had better jobs there.
Unfortunately the UK is seen as a land where the streets are paved with gold and money is freely given to all.

Just because a country has been imperialistic, doesn't mean it should just stand back and get taken advantage of - that would be suicide. Little known is the fact that Western countries used to be able to do their own menial work - immigrant labor often encourages wage corruption and often is imposed unfairly to the immigrant worker (catering to their lack of knowledge about the wage system). If countries like China and Japan can get along fine without immigrant workers, then so can we.
Yes, they were born on the same planet, but they can't all fit in Britain, right?
