Can a US citizen reside in Canada, while still working in the US?
Answer:
yes...i do it myself.....hundreds of people cross the border every day to do just that...
Yes and no. Unless you are working for the U.S. embassy/consulate or another government division (such as Immigration pre-clearance) you can reside in Canada and still work in the USA since embassy, consulates, and pre-clearance areas are considered U.S. soil.
However is you reside in Canada and are working for a non-U.S. government division like those above, no you can't.
Yes its possible, and as a matter of fact about 6 months ago there was this teacher (US) living in St, Catherines Ontario with his wife and kids and he was working as a school teacher in Niagara Falls, NY, and he would commute everyday. Well this teacher was arrested and charged with having sex with a minor student and guess what his punishment was, ?? To be exiled to Canada and be banned from entering the US, unless he is going to go see his probation officer. That justice sucks, but yes you can line in Canada and work in the US, and I bet that teachers wife and kids are proud???
If you are a U.S. citizen and live in Canada of course you can work in the U.S.
you would have to maintain some sort of status in Canada either as a temporary visitor or as a permanent resident. You can't just go and live there without obtaining status. You shoudl check with an immigration lawyer or border officer before you buy a house.
