What would your citizenship be if you were born on a ship at sea?

My husband and I recently took our family on a cruise and there was a pregnant lady on the ship. I started wondering what would happen if she gave birth at sea. What would it say on the birth certificate as far as the country and state of birth?

Answer:
The Country of Birth would depend on what flag the ship is registered under. The captain of the ship is Law. He can marry people, Christen people and so forth. I would think though that the passport would only be issued in the name of the country which its parents come from.
it would depend on the citizenship of the parents.
The child would be a citizen of whichever country's flag the ship sailed under because the ships are little traveling islands belonging to different countries. So, if you were on Norwegian Cruise Lines the child would be Norwegian, but I am betting that if the parents are US citizens, there would be a dual citizenship granted. However, the birth certificate would have to come from the other country.
citisenship of parents, they issue " Certificate of Birth Abroad" if one parent U.S Citizen
A citizen of Atlantis
Wouldn't it depend on what country the ship is registered to?
The citizenship of the mother and the nearest port..
It would all depend on location you were sailing through when your child was born. Different countries have their own separate spaces of water that belongs to them - their territory.
the country the ship sets anchor next after birth is the baby's citizenship
Whatever citizenship the parents are.
