The prior answer is almost totally wrong.
A B1/B2 visa is for tourist and business travel; you can go to Disneyworld, negotiate contracts, visit your aunt in Omaha, attend trade shows in Las Vegas, etc, etc. M means that it is valid for multiple entries: you can enter as often as you want or need to without further formalities until the date that the visa expires (that date is printed on the visa itself). You can stay as long as you need to to conduct whatever personal or work business you need to, as long as you don't stay longer than the date indicated on the I-94 card that the CBP officer at the port of entry staples into your passport. That can be as long as six months.
There is no rule about how soon you must enter or anything else that the previous answer lists.
This is a limited use Business Visa for travel to US as a foreign employee of a treatied country (EU, Swiss, etc.), it can be used for limited Business use or medical use but is not qualified for outright work for a company in the US. It is normally a visa a foreign country gets for their employee to just travel for meetings or interaction in US. M means multiple entries. The Visa can be granted for 10 years but must be used the first time within 90 days after this the employee can continue to use the Visa for up to ten years as many time as they like but can never stay in US longer than 90 days. This VISA is different than L-1. L-1 is used by large companies to allow employees to transfer to US branch of their company from a foreign branch for greater than 90 days.
The second answer is correct. B1/B2 (M) is Business/Pleasure with Multiple entries. The CBP officer normally gives you 6 months. It can be extended at a CIS office. the duration is listed on the I-94 (white) that you fill out upon arrival.
Note-failure to keep the I-94 with you at all times can result in you being picked up by ICE and jailed for up to 30 days and/or deported.
