If we're a constitutional Republic, why politicans say "we're a democracy"?
A 'Republic' recognizes people r born w/ 'fundamental Rights'. Whereas a Democracy only recognizes 'civil Rights'
(Rights that the Govt grants u).
So why do Americans want a 'democracy' form of govt that doesn't recognize ur fundamental Rights? Don't they teach a Republic form of govt in 'public school' any more?
Answer:
Because the Democrat party wants people to think we are a democracy so they can bring us to Socialism.
The republicans want to make us socialist too, just not as fast.
No they don't.
In public schools they are starting the indoctrination into socialism.
You'll find more Democrats say that than Republicans. They can accomplish much more if mob rule was the order of the day.Remember the 2000 election? "We should do away with the Electorial College!" That's just what it is supposed to prevent, mob rule.
Poor education in public schools I guess.
We are a commonwealth
For the U.S., see Commonwealth (United States). For usage relating to U.S. insular areas, see Commonwealth (United States insular area).
The English noun commonwealth dates originally from the fifteenth century. The original phrase "common wealth" or "the common weal" comes from the old meaning of "wealth" which is "well-being". The term literally meant "common well-being". Thus commonwealth originally meant a state governed for the common good as opposed to an authoritarian state governed for the benefit of a given class of owners.
The Declaration of Independence
Tell the whole world that we The United States of America is a Commonwealth.
The Declaration of Independence
It’s as We the People of these United States of America
You would think until you read the Original which does not contain These United States of America
Civics educations is outrageously lacking. Part of the "democracy" label is probably just habit, or parroting the language others use. Part is that its much easier for the population at large to relate to.
This is why I like Ron Paul having said that, I think it's all there to keep the president in check but sometimes it doesn't work out well because if you have too many democrats in congress and a republican president, you get alot of bickering and no solutions over affiliations.
If you have it the other way around where the president is democrat but the congress is majority republicans, how is anything going to get solved?
They play games with each other to have things their way and it's tiring.
Democracy is a term covering many systems of government (ie: direct, representational, etc) in which the people have influence. Constitutional republic is the specific term for our form of government. While the exact definition of democracy does not match our own, for the public it is close enough. Politicians don't really tell you the truth, they tell you what is easy to hear. In this case, it is easier to relate to a democracy than wonder what a constitutional republic is. In any American Government class however, they will tell you that we operate under a constitutional republic.
We are a Representative Republic.
Think.
Democracy is a process. A Republic is a type of government. A Republic can be populated with democratically selected citizens.or not as is the case with voter fraud and manipulation(gerrymandering)
Our constitution is more closely styled after the Iroquis Articles of Confederation then anything else. The electoral college does indeed exist to allow control and override of the popular vote so as to keep "rogues and scalawags" from gaining popular acclaim.
Republics have a republican form of government. You'll never hear a Democrat politician or public school teacher say that.
They say we are a democracy. That's why the Democrat party likes to be called the "Democratic" party. They're conditioning the myrmidons to perpetual rule by Democrat politicians.
Good observation...they are trying to shove "Democracy" down our throats right now. You are right though...
They don't teach a whole h*ll of a lot in school anymore...but to answer your question, in the 12 years of school, I never ONCE had a teacher go over the Constitution to the point which it SHOULD have been...brief overview and that was it...not really finding out what it was about at all!
To answer this question you must look at the exact definition of democracy and republic.Rebublic is a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them.Democracy is a government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. Both state that it is a free system of goverment and the right to vote and elect your leaders in representives. The only thing in a republics defenition that might hint to fundamental rights is the last partof its defenition when it say indirectly. When they say indirectly it is more or less saying appointed by someone the people elected for.The only real diffrence between a republic and democracy is republic is saying that we dont have a monarch as are head and states what we do not have. While democracy states that we do have an elected head of goverment. So one states what we are and have and the other statew what we are not and do not have.I hope this helps.:)
I think now a days you would call it a hypocrisy
The words "Democracy" and "Freedom" sound good in speeches.
we are a democratic republic.
democracy is out political system and it means ruled by the people.
our government is a republic. semi-seprate bodies working as one.
the constution is nothing but a contract stating how we will work together.
