I am working for a UK company in the US and have been in NY with an L1 visa (financed by us) since September 2001 with my family. The company's immigration lawyer filed an I-140 and I-485 last May and we are waiting for green card approval which we are told we should receive in about a month's time. I understand that once we are approved I still have to stay with my company for 180 days before getting another job or I will lose residency status and would have to return to the UK. I have heard a strong rumour that I could possibly lose my job in a couple of months and this would be terrible as we have invested so much in staying here. We are an 'at will' company so it is easier to be let people go without reason. I obviously want to keep my job and I have just found out I am pregnant. I have not told my company as I am only 6 weeks gone. Would I have a stronger case for staying if I let them know I am pregnant?

You should consult with your lawyer and ask him about your work situation while your case is still pending. Unfortunately, it's completely unpredictable how fast your case can be reviewed.

In general, non-permanent residents need to apply for a work permit. I believe if your case is pending you should be eligible for renewing your work permit. You should not have to loose your job if you are legally authorized to work in the US.
You should tell EVERYONE there you are pregnant. If they let go a lot of people, you can easily be gone too, but either way they'll think twice.
Check with an attorney, but I think they might hesitate to let you go if they know you are pregnant. They do not want a lawsuit.
I am not a lawyer and it would be good for you to talk to a labor lawyer.
Having said that, I'll give you my opinion. If you tell them you're pregnant, they may actually be *more* tempted to let you go, since they may think that once the baby comes, you'll leave anyway. I'd wait until you have your green card before you tell them anything. At least then, you'll have the flexibility to find work elsewhere if they let you go.
