What is the timeframe of receiving a Canadian work visa after you have secured a job there?

Moving my family to Canada and obtained a job offer there. We are just waiting on the work visa to got through. Just need to have a time frame to work with so we can obtain passports and all records for our move and also to alert our current landlord if we need to go month to month or if we will be leaving before the lease is up.

Don't worry about the rules, they make up and enforce the law at a casual whim. You never know when they'll haul you away in a paddy wagon for some obscure rule of law that only a high priced lawyer can get you out of.
