Hi, the petition that my father filed for me has been approved. I'm in the process of waiting for a visa number, however, this take quite a long time. I'm wondering am I eligible to work in US or consider a permanent resident in the mean time?
Also, I'm wondering how can I contact USCIS directly other than calling them? I feel like is no point calling them since they can't really answer my questions.
Thanks!!!
Answer:
You are eligible to work only if you have been approved for a work visa. What you need to do is go to your local Social Security office to obtain the form that states that you are eligible to work and show this to prospective employers.
