Visa question?

im an american citizen but for personal reasons cant get to make the papers for my boyfriend to come to the states what other choises do i have because we are both desperate to study architecture in the states together

Answer:
Well...if he wants to study in the states, he can apply for a F-1 visa. But if there is a problem for him to get the visa for some reasons, you probably need to consider to marry him if you are ready to make a commitment.
Well, the most obvious solution is for your boyfriend to apply for a Student Visa which is usually an F-1. There are other types of student visas such as J-1 or M-1 which you can investigate.
Start at the link to the Department of State's Website for student visas.
If the boyfriend cannot get here legally, then give up. Otherwise, find out what the issue is that is stopping his getting a VISA and correct it if possible.
Your boyfriend will need to be accepted into a school in the US (based on language ability, grades and financial means to support himself and his course of study). Once accepted, he will need to take the school provided I-20 and his SEVIS receipt to the appropriate US foreign mission in the country in which he has the closest ties, where he may apply for an F-1 student visa. He and his application and supporting paperwork will be evaluated by a US Consular official. The decision to issue the visa rests with the Consular officer.
