Are there any illegal American immigrants in Mexico?

Simple question - given that things are getting bad in the USA with expensive food, gas, healthcare and so on, are Americans crossing the border into Mexico for a better lifestyle? Since there is no extradition treaty between Mexico and the US, any American immigrants would not be deported back to the US. Some Americans are already living on the other side of the US border for a fraction of what they would pay in the US.

Answer:
i am sure that there are. we have people hiding in the US from other countries to avoid facing trouble so why wouldnt criminals from the US go hide in other countries.
If so they are probably in El Clinko.
They are probably either in a Mexican jail or already deported back to the evil U.S..
Yes, they are called fugitives...
well i don't know if they are in mexico because of bad economy in the US, more likely hiding from the IRS ;). I actually know someone who owes IRS money and is hiding. But it is scary down there because the federalies can pretty much do what ever they want including shoot you and take your money and everything else.
haha i doubt it. maybe in canada though.
I'm sure there are illegal US citizens living in other countries.
Ironically enough - Mexico has guards on their southern border with Guatemala and they are very strict. And Americans living and working in Mexico have to have a visa - check out Alan Wall's writings.
well, its a good point Bob that you have just pointed out, and its a pleasure to inform you that there is in fact MANY Americans that live in Mexico and cross the broader every single day.( I live in San Diego)..I know
I guess you're right of course not as many but yeah, i lke them =) well idk if they have a passport or not but they can enter in Mexico by walking or driving just with a birth certificate so i guess some of them just have decided to stay, also if they live in the border like Ciudad Juarez or Tijuana they can work in the US side and live in The mexican side wich would make their life way less expansive
At least 500,000 Americans are living in Mexico. There must be some illegals. With all the money they pour in the economy I doubt if they deport many. However, if you're an illegal from El Salvador living in Mexico you will get the boot.
SURE. BUT THEY AINT THERE FOR A BETTER LIFESTYLE. THERE RUNNING FROM THE LAW.
FOR EXAMPLE: WHEN SCOTT PETERSON SAW THE LIGHT WAS SHINING ON HIM FOR THE DISAPPEARANCE OF HIS WIFE LACEY..WHERE DID HE FLEE TO ((MEXICO))

2: WHEN MAX FACTOR HEIR: ANDREW LUSTER KNEW HE WAS WANTED FOR SEVERAL COUNTS OF RAPE..HE TO FLED TO MEXICO.

THESE 2 ARE ONLY A FEW OF MANYAMERICANS WHO FLEE TO MEXICO...NOT FOR A BETTER LIFE, BUT BECAUSE OF THEIR CRIMES.
Americans seem to be tolerated in Mexico because most of them know how to show respect for their surroundings & their neighbors. The ones who don't, get beat up & robbed & go home to the US! It does seem risky to invest your US dollars in the property of a foreign country, yet many Americans are moving there in hopes to have a happy life with a lower cost of living!
ha, ha. you are getting smart. get your pension, and then move to a country where it will stretch a long way!!
Certainly. There is a lot, hiding, mostly in places like Cancun, los Cabos and some other states, where sometimes they go to escape the "system" with good money in their pockets, they may find it less "oppresive" to live down there, obviously running other risk"
They don't actively seek illegal America's in Mexico...Many foreigners do move to Mexico, without papers, they end up retiring there. Its is cheaper, food, gas, real estate and health care, but you still have to pay for services.Other goods are more expensive, like electronics, clothing and certain automobiles...Most living there will have to eventually get legal, or they can send you back here. There is a huge hippy community living throughout Mexico. Not sure if all of those are legal...But your right, many do move there, in a sense, it is more laid back, especially if you have money, you can live in some beautiful, peaceful prehistoric pueblos...
I have a condo in Mexico City, well my husband does as I cannot own property. But I never bother to get visas and all that stuff at the border and I work illegally when I go down there too. Its actually a really nice place.
I haven't heard cases with the exception of fugitives illegally entering mexico. Also if you look at Mexican immigration law it is pretty easy for an American to gain an immigrant visa, so I doubt there would be many illegals, because well you never know. There is one thing happening though many Americans and Canadians who have moved to places like Mexico and other middle income countries to retire. Costa Rica being another. I have gone to Mexico a few times and places including Mexico City and south are actually very well developed with modern facilities and Mexicans who are well adjusted. Cities that are not like Tijuana and Cuidad Juarez but very clean and efficent cities. But as you stated people are retiring in Mexico due to uncle sam going a longer way there and places that are very well developed.
Most of the US citizens living in Mexico are illegal. That is because they have mexican parents (or relatives), even they never ask for the mexican citizenship. My wife is an example. She was born at Chicago, and lived there until she got 10. Then she came to Monterrey where she studied. I met her while in the College. She got a degree in Dentistry. I am a Physician. We live in Monterrey.

Now, believe it or not, there are many people here from USA, who seems to be hiding from some kind of autority. I remember a white man who lives in poverty. He is an american citizen. He does not speak spanish. And he works "watching" our cars at the parking lots while we go to the cinema. I allways ask him where is he from, and why is he at México. He doesn't want to answer me. He just answer me with a "God bless you".

Now, if you are at México, and you are not breaking any rule, nobody is going to contact you about your immigration status. If you are thinking in moving or visiting México, let me give you an advive: Do not bring guns or any kind of weapon with you. If you are catched, you will be at jail for a very long time (probably years).

Mexican reality is not as you can see at the TV shows. Even we have problems, and thera are small towns in rural áreas who meet the tipical scene, we have big cities, a lot of universities and most of the people is working or studying hard.

But do not mistake, you wont have a "better lifestyle" crossing the border. Probably you'll get cheaper services and very good and cost effective private Medicine, but jobs are not well paid. Probably if you talk about family way of life, or traditions related with values, yes, in many places of México you can feel comfortable with it.

Greetings
Everyone that I have heard of doing it has fled from the law. Not to say it doesn't happen, just do not know of anyone moving to Mexico illegally.
No. mexicans come here, us: no go
I'm sure there are some, but apparently not in anywhere near the numbers of illegals coming the other direction.
good question
Sure are. Since they tend to have a lot of (other people's) money and a distinct interest in avoiding police involvement (that is, they pay their bribes without complaint), Mexican law enforcement love them.
I have actually read in the paper about an american going illegally to mexico because his wife was kicked out of here for being illegal. So they just packed up the family and decided to move there even though he doesnt want to be a citizen there. I'll see if i can find that article online. So im sure there are some
Yes there are alot of Americans living in Mexico for alot less than they would living here. They are the ones who are trying to take over the nice beachfront properties and kicking out the Mexicans. Mexico wants them to stay but they have to live by their rules not America's rules because now they are in their country.
idk maybe some criminals. but you dont get some of the benefits or luxuries u would here
There are illegal immigrants from the United States living in Mexico, and to the best of my knowledge they can be deported. Of course the law comes with a price in Mexico (la mordida).
