Is it ever appropriate to hang politicians for treason?
Answer:
Dude, there has been NOBODY Tried for treason in 50 yrs.

They pass this amnesty bill and they may as well buy the ropes because those that vote for it will hang themselves.
Absolutely! In the case of executive office occupants, it saves everyone the embarrassment of denying them Secret Service protection, pensions, and invitations to events after they are unceremoniously dumped from office.
Sounds like a good idea, actually.
I don't believe so.
Boy you guys are violent here!
yea and it's getting closer to the time that this may happen
Treason is rarer than hanging so no. Plus, they'll probably go to prison
ABSOLUTELY. Treason is treason. The law for this type of crime is still legal.
What we need to be working on is abolishing the Electorial Votes. As we have proven over the last decade, our votes do NOT count, because the Electorial VOtes vetoes our votes.
We voted to legalize marijuana, especially for those citizens who pain is lessoned. Yet, the government went against the vote and decided to keep it illegal. (No money in it).
Why waste a good rope on a politician?
It should be .right Senator So-and-So? Who says the war is lost?
It certainly should be.
Oh, I think you already know the answer to that one... YES!
Once can only hope
Who are we hanging today? A liberal or a Conservative?
Yes.
When you entrust a person with your voice in the government, anything they do should be thought out. They should say "is what I am doing in the best interest of the people who have given me this power."
When one chooses to be a public servant, they agree to do the best they can on behalf of that public.
Judges, states attorneys, governors, police officer, congressmen and yes even the president should every day fear for their life. Not in the assassination realm of fear, but the fear that their actions are dishonorable, disloyal or deceitful to the people and the Constitution they have chosen to serve. And that in violating that trust that they have been given should be executed for the crimes against the people and the Constitution. That is what treason is.
Only then will America return to being a true Democracy.
I believe so , attempting to Destroy America, by opening it
to pillage by marauding hordes. Sounds like time for the Amnesty Supporters to bring their own Ropes.
I am extremely sure that we don't hang people anymore, but if by hang you mean put to death then I would have to say yes. If someone commits an act of treason they then become eligible for the death penalty. Politicians are not above the law (Even though some of them would like to think they are). I'm not sure, but it seems to me you are wondering what the difference is between a politician decenting and a politician guilty of treason. All Americans are allowed to be decenters. To do so is very American. It becomes treasonous when, in your disagreement, you do things to further or promote the objective(s) of the enemy. During the Civil War there was either a Senator or a Congressman who was a politician who was extremely vocal for his support of the south leaving the Union. President Lincoln had him thrown in jail for acts of treason. The politician was legitimizing the separation of the South, thus furthering the cause of the enemy. The main point to take from what I have said is NO ONE is above the law.
I would think hanging would now be considered "cruel and unusual punishment".
I think politicians in general, left and right, are shady. Look at how much money it takes to run for public offices.
**Treason is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair the well-being of a state to which one owes allegiance; the crime of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of ones government.
I don't know about overthrowing, but the impair the well-being part fits oh so many politicians.
YES it is!! :)
I think so, but only for extraordinary reasons - simple treason isn't enough. But say if someone were in a position of public trust, and they violated that trust by lying about something as serious as the reasons for going to war, and led us into an unnecessary, unjust, and costly adventure, and deposed the head of state of the country we attacked, and set up a mockery of a court to try him, and convicted him and sentenced him to death by hanging, well, then it seems that his false accuser should be hung with the same rope. And his remains should be hacked to pieces, and fed to the buzzards. And the buzzards should then be castrated, and damned for all eternity, and made to barf involuntarily, on alternate Tuesdays, with liberty and justice for all.
YES! maybe they wont be so many self interested politics
My political science teacher told us that POLI-TICIAN stands for blood sucking leeches in Latin. And the opposite of CONGRESS is PROGRESS ...LOL
I know how you feel. I am so mad at my two senators. It's like they have suddenly gone brain dead, for they damn sure are not representing the people of this state, or of this country. I have phoned, sent emails, and faxes. A lot of people are calling, for their lines are jammed. You can get your senators phone numbers, and email addresses at www.senate.gov, and you can sign a petition at www.grassfire.org. Don't take this BS from people who's salary we pay. Too bad we have to wait for another election to fire them. They need to go NOW. They are giving away OUR future and OUR America!
I DON'T think giving someone amnesty is treasonable because AMNESTY saves lives, but deliberately lying in order to go to war, THAT SHOULD BE TREASON ....
we need a lot of rope
ABSOLUTLY its one of the core values of Democratic Philosophy!
