What is the name of the bill that legalized the "fence" to be built between America and Mexico?
Answer:
Well, it started years and years ago, and the huge drop in border violence and crime by the fence in San Diego is a huge reason the fence idea is so popular. (There is a Neiman Marcus now backing up against the border wall in San Diego, in an area far too trashy to support such a thing prior to the fence.)
However, you are looking for the Secure Fence Act.
Why don't you look at who voted for it?
It passed OVERWHELMINGLY before the election.
Unofficially - "Bill awesome"
I received the message below from my Congressman, Joe Wilson who is active in protecting the borders of our country. A good source for the issue of immigration is www.numbersusa.com, www.grassfire.org or www.congress.org/congressorg/h...
Immigration reform is a serious matter. America is a
nation of laws, and I am opposed to amnesty. Due to the security risks of a porous border, we cannot allow illegal immigration to continue. Legal immigrants have obeyed our laws, and America must demonstrate our commitment to these hard-working individuals by ensuring those who follow our laws are treated courteously by immigration officials and their immigration applications are processed in a timely fashion. In 2006, I supported and voted in favor of several pieces of legislation that would strengthen our borders and eliminate illegal immigration:
*H.R. 6061, the "Secure Fence Act of 2006," was
signed into law and authorizes more than 700 miles
of fencing along the southwest border; creates a
"virtual fence" that deploys cameras, ground
sensors, unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and
integrated surveillance technology;
*H.R. 6094, the "Community Protection Act of
2006," was passed by the House and ensures that
dangerous illegal immigrants who cannot be
deported will not be released into society and
expedites the removal of alien criminals;
*H.R. 6095, the "Immigration Law Enforcement Act
of 2006," was passed by the House and reaffirms
the inherent authority of state and local law
enforcement officials to voluntarily enforce federal
immigration laws.
We must ensure we have a legal workforce that is helping
our economy and benefiting our nation. However, I believe that it
should be Congress' priority to secure our borders. Please be
assured that I will continue to work with my colleagues to
strengthen border security and protect America's legal workforce.
During the 110th Congress, I will carefully monitor any new
immigration proposals that come before me in the House, and I
will certainly keep your thoughts and views in mind on this
important issue.
It's called the "Welcome To The US" bill. It was initiated by George Bush and everyone is welcome...come as you are!
"The foolish, republican really bad idea and ain't never going to happen" bill.
