i agree with you we should only accept AMERICAN money. It is not fair this pizza place is accepting pesos. If you insist coming to this country, use american currency only this is not Mexico. they seem to be given everything no wonder they are so cocky.
I think they should be complimented for putting business sense and good customer service ahead of bigotry and ethnocentrism.
All the time I was growing up in Oregon we used Canadian currency interchangeably with our own. And there are plenty of places south of the US-Mexican border that accept dollars. In fact, you would probably be shocked and offended if they didn't.
More proof that the mexican culture is being shoved down our throats.
There are several other places on BOTH U.S. borders that take the neighboring countries' money. Among this list are gas stations & other convenience stores, and even stores, including Wal-Mart!
I say of that if they want to spend money to convert the pesos into dollars at the bank, let them. All it's doing is bringing money into this country that was not there previously.
I wonder how Wal-Mart has avoided widespread criticism & boycotts? Probably because, unlike this pizza chain, they have so much economic power that people don't care.
It is his own business. As long as he pays his bills in American currency what difference can it possible make to anyone else. By accepting the pesos he is serving his community. If you think that illegal aliens are going to cross the border just to buy a pizza you're crazy. Many people in theses border towns are here legally but cross the border regularly to visit friends and relatives.

While it may be a good business decision on their part, it is the continuation of the erosion of the sovereignty of this nation. Unfortunately I don't see anything to stop it. If you come against it you are labeled prejudice. America is slowly declining and pretty soon we will wind up a 2nd rate country.
I don't see anything wrong with it, and I agree that it's good business sense. As the first poster said, many places in Michigan close to the Canadian border also accept Canadian money, and many places on the Canadian side of the border accept U.S. Dollars as well. Put your bigotry aside. Does it not say on the Statue of Liberty, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...?" Why are we, as Americans, pushing foreigners away from our wonderful country? We should embrace the change, and learn from their cultures instead.
I agree with you.It doesn't make much sense to me.It seems he would have more trouble exchanging pesos for dollars than he would by only accepting american fare.I wouldn't be so stupid.How would someone go pay for their gas or groceries with another currency while in america?That'd be like me going to Russia and paying for dinner with dollars.Sure............
This question has been asked a lot. I don't see anything wrong with it for three reasons.
1) The Canadian dollar is accepted at US businesses along the northern border.
2) The Peso is accepted at many businesses along the Mexican border. Many Mexicans come into the US, on vacation or on business, and then leave. The majority are not illegal aliens.
3) The dollar is accepted in many countries around the world. For a while it was even accepted in Cuba. It hypocritical of us to ask other countries to accept and use the dollar at the same time refusing to allow US businesses to accept foreign currency.
There are many places along the northern border that accept Canadian dollars. Hell, I get Canadian quarters all the time at McDonald's.
But, Mexicans aren't white like a lot of Canadians, so I can see why you would be upset.
Mexico is part of America!Mexicos people claim a couple thousands years or more of life in this continent we call America! Mayans, and other natives are well blended with the modern peoples of todays Mexico, so the peso, the dollar is the same here and there! Is it not convinient to pay in US dollars in Niagara Falls in Canada ? Probably they figured that ability to pay in pesos will make Mexicans feel at home and bring in more business.

We are all descendants from immigrants or immigrants so who cares.
Lastly with neighboring countries a euro type of currency wouldn't be a bad idea....this isolation with the depriciating dollar is laughable.
