Why do I need a certificate to prove I was born?

Sounds like you were born with limited brain capacity.
The certify is not prove that you were born. Its purpose is to prove what date, what place and to what parents you were born. Date of birth can later be used to determine your age at any point of your life.
But it is not obvious that you were born at a particular place on a particular date. And it is not obvious that you are who you say you are.
