How do I apply the police record for my Green Card?

I get the information that I need to apply the police record to prove that I am (clear) for the interview of my Green Card.

So, where I can apply, and how I can apply for it.

By the way, do I need the police record for the whole United State? or I only need the city I stay?

Answer:
Just make a trip to your local police department and request for a police record. You will be require to do fingerprints. You will pay a fee and the record will be mail to you.

*Criminal record for people in the US is programmed to show any crime committed in the US not only your state or city.

*I presume that you are in the US but if you are now applying to come to the US,you will only need a crime record(police record) valid for 6months from your country. You will send it to the US embassy in your country.
The INS does the background check with you're fingerprints, is done nationally, and sometimes the request the same background check from you country
