OK, someone please help me out here. I am looking inot immigrating to the UK. I've loooked over all sorts of sites, etc. and nothing that answers my exact questions. I know, I should call the consulate/embassy, but I'd rather use that as my last option, and get a perspective from people who have been where I am. I am an american citizen, and I am married to a man who is a citizen of senegal west africa. Don't know if that would affect anything. What type of visa do I need? Can I enter with a tourist/visitor visa and have it switched over to a work permit?(sorry if I sound dumb guys) Is ther an actual immigrant visa for the UK? Can I get a work permit.not a working holiday visa.without having a job offer prior to going to the UK? I'm a nurse, so I won't exactly have issues finding employement. And I'm guessing the answers aply for my husband as well, except he would need an actual enrty visa. Thanks to everyone in advance!

You have the option to apply for a Work Permit or qualify through the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) to come and work in the UK.
To qualify for a UK work permit you must have a valid job offer from a UK employer.
All Nurses must hold Nursing and Midwifery Council UK
(NMC) registration. Overseas trained Nurses may only apply for registration if their qualifications are recognized by the NMC. All overseas trained Nurses are required to undertake a period of twenty days protected learning before they can gain registration.
Since you're from the USA, you won't need a visa to visit the UK - however, your Senegalese husband will.
