Just recieved approval on an I-130 application, what happens now?
Answer:
That depends entirely where you are applying from. What you do need to do is visit your local US consulate's website (whichever one is going to process the application) and get as much information as possible on what they will require. I immigrated from the UK on a K-1 visa and I found the London Embassy's website a mine of useful information. In particular, I was able to comply with inoculation requirements before the medical appointment and also had the police report in good time.
When I immigrated about 5 1/2 years ago, I was approved in mid-June, got more paperwork in early August which I completed and sent back promptly. By then, I had my police report in progress and had the jabs from my doctor, along with a letter from him confirming my inoculation record from birth (you may not need that if you are from another country). I got the medical and interview in the first half of October and left the UK three weeks later.
Congratulations on your impending move. I hope you enjoy living in this great country as much as I do.
Next step is the NVC- National Visa Center. It goes through processing there and then gets sent to the nearest Consulate that handles CR1/IRA.
Does the approved I 130 say it is being forwarded to the NVC automatically or does it say an I 824 will have to be filed to have it moved?
That is just the first step, it all depends on what country. My hubbys was in the UK, we got approved for the I-130 just a few weeks after we applied, our whole process from the I-130, until we got approved for him to move here took around 7 months and that was getting denied for the k-1 visa the fist time. Its a long process but hang in there, its all worth it in the long run. We just celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. : )
