Well for starters as of yesterday.The freaking drug Cartels have threaten to "kill" any reporters reporting on any drug related issues. Need I say more! I am an American and dam proud that my parents went about it the correct way. But it seems as if in the following decades 60's,70's,80's,and 90's. All real criminals from Mexico were given the OK opened door right away by American criminals who kept on saying "YES" to the foreign top dollar crops that really changed the meaning of freedom!
Including the "C.I.A." according to rumors that have had top officials make such claims. Check out entire video and the person saying that "They " need to go back because of job stealing is himself a Mexican if you listen closely!
All in all, to literally pin point any one reason is being bias to the entire development of this dilemma.

Biggest reason for the Mexican economy being what it is now, is the corrupt Government.they mismanage their resources, (and they have plenty of them), and the distribution of their wealth really sucks. It is their problem...The U.S. doesnt have to be their shining knight...they simply need to fix their own problem instead of exporting their people here. If it takes a fence to help stop it, then so be it. We are NOT the worlds nurse maids...nor should we be expected to be...
The US is not going to do anything that doesn't benefit it, that is the truth. They destroy other countries and do not care about whether the other people starve to death. I learned this shameful truth by our incessent involvement in other people's affairs through history, I had eye opening experience when I lived a few years outside the country.

Ann Coulter had a great idea for stopping the magnet. Allow illegals to sue companies if the companies pay less than minimum wages. Companies will be forced to pay fair wages (to Americans) and illegals will be stuck scratching their heads where they went wrong (protesting in a country they have no say in.)

Any way you cut it, the problem (whatever it is) in Mexico needs to be solved. There is not a good reason for people to have to uproot to get ahead.
I submit that allowing foreign investment would help for starters.

We can't do much at all, the problem is on the other side of the border. Rather then fixing their own problems they encourage the immigration.

Rampant corruption and feudal real estate laws keep most Mexicans poor. Wealth is concentrated among a handful of powerful families. The best thing we can do for Mexico is to invoke Manifest Destiny. Annex the whole mess, break it up into about manageable states and admit them to the union. Do away with the immigration problem by making Mexico America.
Once Mexico is governed by US laws and, more importantly, US constitution, most of the Mexican peoples' problems will be solved. Sure, some details will be difficult to work out, like their crime problems, but it's doable.
Give the Mexicans what they want- to be Americans. In return, the US gets the oil and other natural resources, all that real estate, and 80 million new tax paying citizens.

the mexican economy right now is doing ok but the problem is that is not just mexico. did you now that mexico have the second best economy in latin america after brazil.so,look brazil and mexico are ok to live in but there are not just mexicans the centrals americans immigrated to mexico and the US. just go to a mexican party and ask if someone is from central american and i know that more than one will raise their hand. so if the US helps mexico it wont work because the whole latin america is bad and very poor. remenber that the americans took the half territory and mexico does not have more land on the south those are other countries not just canada,US and mexico. remmenber that mexico is not the whole latin america.

Mexico faces a number of headwinds which mean makes it poor.
1. Entrenched monopolies. Land, (CAPITAL)/ Finance, Government
Its a crony state, with its richest citizen a lebonese businessman who got rich through russia like corruption.
2. Massive population growth, 1930 - 10m people 2007 - 110+m - Wages are always undercut by the new volume of workers entering the workforce. Because of the monopoly, top down, centralist/feudal power structures, there is very little job creation from enterprise.
Its rate of economic growth given its natural resources and labour costs should be into double digits.
Mexico should take a leaf out of Chinas book and setup 'free trade areas' which will form culster networks of skilled employees, massively spurring its economic growth as FDI pours in.

I think we should think about all the people HERE who are struggling before we worry about people in other countries. Everyone who is not making a decent income is struggling. Everyone who is homeless and hungry is struggling. Just because the economy is better here, does not mean people do not struggle here.
Someone above said something about their wages here vs. their wages in Mexico. I don't get it because they don't consider cost of living differences. Yeah, they were making only 25 a week in Mexico. That is a quarter of what they are making here. Cost of living there is less than a quarter of what it is here. PLEASE...

I believe is World globilization thats accellerating the problem and corruption is a major issue. I believe in the root of the issue, is Spanish colonialism. THey formed a cast system, where the rich stays rich and the poor is forever poor. THe money seems to further concentrate towards the rich while the poor multiply and the resources is diluted in their numbers. I believe in not interferring in another countries culture since it is racism to me. On teh other hand immigration is interferring as well.
why should the united states assist any country? we have starving people right here. we have a public school system that is a mess. we have high crime rates. we have a bad health care system. don't you think it is time we took care of ourselves? mexico is struggling because it is run my crooks. the people streaming across the border should put their energy into saving their own country. yes it would be hard but they can't continue to come here and have things handed to them when they don't care enough to even learn the language. i don't think there is so much hatred as there is frustration. neither govt wants to solve the problems.
There is no Mexican economy crisis. The richest man in the world lives there genius. They simply come here because there are many jobs fat lazy Americans wont do and their president allows them to come here without stopping them.
