I am a US Citizen. How and where do I apply for dual citizenship with India?
Answer:
why ........ ll
US and India don't have dual citizenship provisions. Once you become USC, you automatically don't remain Indian citizen.
First, renounce your U.S citizenship. Then apply to be a citizen of India. Then get them to change their policy on dual citizenships. Then apply for U.S. citizenship. It is so simple when you think about it.
india don't have dual citizenship.
India does not have a dual citizen provision. But if you are a person of Indian origin, you can contact the local Consulate/embassy of India, and get the details for the same. PIO cards give you most of the benefits and you are free to work in India also, with a few restrictions like you cannot vote in India, cannot own agricultural land etc., But you can enjoy all other privileges. It also removes the hassle of visa, work permit etc.,
It is important to understand that a foreign citizen does NOT lose his or her citizenship when becoming a U.S. citizen. An individual that becomes a U.S. citizen through naturalization may keep his or her original citizenship. However, as some countries do not recognize dual citizenship, it is important to consider it carefully before applying for U.S. citizenship.
the USA does not recognize duel citizenship.
F10 - figure out which country do you want to pledge your allegiance to! U.S. or India? not both!
The notion of dual citizenship is utterly nonsense!
I was going to apply for citizenship in Mexico several years ago, when I moved there, after retirement. I am an American !! I was informed by some one in the U.S. State Dept., that if I took out citizenship in another country, the US State Dept, automatically, would cancell my USA citizenship !!!!!! Be extremly careful!!!
