Do you find the term "anchor baby" offensive? Why or why not?

Offensive, no. Inaccurate, yes. Having a baby in the US can get you WIC, but it definately does not get you automatic legal status. The baby will have to turn 21 before he can help the parents get legal status. Contrary to popular belief, having a baby in the US does not make you legal. That would not make any sense. especially given the fact that there are few things illegals do more than have babies. They would all be citizens by now.
Not at all. Why not? Because that is exactly what they are. The more kids they have, the more money they can get in welfare checks.
Don't have children you cannot afford to support on your own, it is irresponsible.

Its a true definition of some of the children born in the USA to some illegal alien parents.They use that child as an anchor to hold them to being able to stay in the USA. The bastardization of the real intent of the 14th amendment has been used to give them that loop hole .It should be clarified or repealed.
I find the idea of using a baby as a boat anchor not just offensive but also cruel and I'm sure it must be against the law.

no, but the only "welfare" parents get, its from WIC and thats just a gallon of milk and cupons for diapers. they cant get welfare because they are illegal, to be under welfare they need a social security and if they dont have one how do they get it? duh!!

I don't fine it offensive at all. By using that term people understand what you are talking about. Politicians use the term even. It is also shorter than using, 'the child of someone that came within the country illegally and used too often as a means for such a law breaker to bypass the immigration system in effect'.

I don't find it offensive; I find it inaccurate. I think they should be called "offspring of criminals who suck off of our tax dollars and contribute nothing to society". I also call them temporary, because the revolution is upon us, and they will ALL be shipped home soon. We are sick and tired of this ridiculousness, and their little fiesta is about over!
No. The babies are just that. They anchor the illegal parent in the US making it impossible to deport the parent or parents because it will be considered splitting up families, then the baby anchors the family into drawing free medical, food stamps, wellfare, housing, and whatever else they need.
When a pregnant woman crosses the border to have the baby here on purpose to gain status into the united states that is just wrong. It should be illegal. We are well on the road to being overpopulated and having a lower status of living. Middle class will slowly dissapear.
I don't find the words "anchor baby" offensive, however, I find it offensive that illegals come here just in time to push the little squirt out and call it an American. I think that those who have babies here, but are illegal or citizens of other nations, should either 1) have to give the baby up to American citizens or 2) call the babies what they are ... illegal mexicans subject to deportation laws.

I can see where it would be offensive to people who fit that description, or are assumed to.
It is useful shorthand, but I don't use it as a term.
